I used to frequent the Champany a lot when I lived in the east so was looking forward to lunch. It was mid week and there was only one person serving. The cappuccino and flat white came out of a machine...? The flat white was a filter coffee served with cold milk...because the machine cannot make a flat white. The... More

Visited here as a couple and upon arrival we were seated in a tiny corner at a small table - we had to brush by people and nudge into people eating to get seated. When we ordered our food was quick in arriving and was delicious! The portions were huge and were served on separate plates for chips and salad... More

Lovely place nice tidy could do with a dust round the top if you want to be picky. However I'll return the once after being twice and if the smiles from the head waiter dont improve I'll tell him and just go to chop n ale and save myself 50 of her majesty's pounds where your not treated like a... We stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast basis on Monday 19th December. My wife and i had bought this at an auction at a charity ball earlier in the year (we had paid well over the value - it was a great cause and close to our heart) and felt it would be a real treat in the run... More

Between my wife and I we had a rib eye and a rump at over £20 each. I don't mind paying this sort of price for a special occasion but would expect decent quality. The quality was really poor - tough and obviously from an old poor quality animal. I could have done better myself by just popping into any... More

We had an excellent meal with the fillet steak just melting in the mouth and the black pudding starter is also worth a mention. As always the service was excellent with great wines.

Whilst in the area to visit the Kelpies - we were recommended the Chop & Ale Inn. So pleased that we took the time to track it down. The food, service and ambiance were all fantastic! Maybe next time we'll go the whole hog and book a room so we can enjoy the great selection of wines they have to... More

This is a steak house masquerading as a mid range restaurant but that charges like a michelin starred place. Sadly the quality is nowhere near that level. Most food is good but not better than that. Wine/bar list is long but short on quality that matches the extraordinary prices charged. The owners need to support their staff to do a... More

Heard about this place and finally tried it. Never again. Mediocre steak, not a single vegetable on the menu ! Chicken tough as old boots. Prices hugely inflated. Staff didn't have a clue what they were serving. Sent the medium steak back as it was cold and raw in the middle only to be presented with one that was worse... More

Having been let down badly by Doubletree Hilton in Dunblane we made a very last minute booking here on as Saturday night. I had always fancied visiting but as we only live about 40 minutes away my husband said it wasn't far enough for a night away! We arrived about 40 minutes after we had phoned to a wonderfully warm...
