We had an excellent meal with the fillet steak just melting in the mouth and the black pudding starter is also worth a mention. As always the service was excellent with great wines.

Whilst in the area to visit the Kelpies - we were recommended the Chop & Ale Inn. So pleased that we took the time to track it down. The food, service and ambiance were all fantastic! Maybe next time we'll go the whole hog and book a room so we can enjoy the great selection of wines they have to... More

This is a steak house masquerading as a mid range restaurant but that charges like a michelin starred place. Sadly the quality is nowhere near that level. Most food is good but not better than that. Wine/bar list is long but short on quality that matches the extraordinary prices charged. The owners need to support their staff to do a... More

Heard about this place and finally tried it. Never again. Mediocre steak, not a single vegetable on the menu ! Chicken tough as old boots. Prices hugely inflated. Staff didn't have a clue what they were serving. Sent the medium steak back as it was cold and raw in the middle only to be presented with one that was worse... More

Having been let down badly by Doubletree Hilton in Dunblane we made a very last minute booking here on as Saturday night. I had always fancied visiting but as we only live about 40 minutes away my husband said it wasn't far enough for a night away! We arrived about 40 minutes after we had phoned to a wonderfully warm... My wife and I enjoyed a truly lovely lunch in the chop and ale house section of this restaurant, we were greeted by 2 very polite and knowledgeable staff one of who explained The differing textures of the steaks on the menu. We both had the prawn cocktails for starters then my wife had the t bone steak and I... More

Not the place to visit if you are on a budget. With the main course vegetables are extra item and expensive for small portions.

Champny has a longstanding and well deserved excellent reputation for outstanding food. The bar area for pre dinner drinks is the perfect setting to prepare for a dining experience. Staff are extremely professional and unobtrusive. The dining room in the evening is a beautiful candlelit setting. The food is amazing with steaks being out of this world. Yes it is... More

This is in the Chop and Ale House: Staff are well meaning but untrained, run ragged in a dark and gloomy space. Steaks are poor quality, customers are rushed and everything is obscenely overpriced! Avoid.

Had not had the opportunity to visit the Chop & Ale Housr for quite a while. Decided not to be put off by some guide downgrades. Were delighted to have held the faith as the starter lamb chops and the steaks (Tbone and Sirloin) were terrific. Partly this was due to meat quality but also getting it spot on with... More
