Staff very friendly and helpful. Menu very expensive -15 Euro for Prawn cocktail.Duck dish was way overdone -should have sent it back - no vegetables to accompany dish so had to pay extra for side order of fries which were soaked in grease. No water in sink in ladies toilet. Not a memorable dining event on my visit to Galway.

Stopped by The Seafood Bar for a quiet dinner. Atmosphere is conducive to have a family dinner, bring friend or a romantic evening. Food is very good (the chicken liver appetizer is a must!).

My husband and i were staying at Glenlo Abbey Hotel (a terrific hotel!) and the concierge recommended Kirwan's. The only reservation we could get (Saturday night) was at 9 pm. We walked around Galway for a while, and got to Kirwan's at 8:30. The hostess took us upstairs, where we had some wine while listening to an excellent jazz duo.... More

We ate here the first night we were in Galway… They were able to sit our group of five, we did not have a reservation, and we sat downstairs. The food was great the atmosphere was great and the service was spot on as well. We went back again on the last night in Galway and this time we sat... More

I was there on a Thursday evening with a party of 6 adults. Overall we had a very pleasant evening. I had the gravadlax to start which was excellent and beautifully presented. This was followed by the hake which was well seasoned with asparagus. The only thing that let it down was the potato croquettes (3) on the side of... More

I wanted the famed Galway oysters that were unfortunately out of season, but Kirwan's had farmed oysters that were excellent. I had the pan fried hake, potato/basil/almond croquette, pureed squash, asparagus and sauce verte. It was excellent but I think Tom's sea bass in a veloute sauce flavored with ham hock, fresh peas and tarragon was even better. The menu... More

The food and service were excellent. We had wonderful seafood, wine, and dessert. Clearly the best meal we had in Galway.

Booked for a birthday meal. From earlier reviews we anticipated a good quality dinner and were not disappointed. Reception on arrival was very friendly. An aperitif could have been offered more quickly but apart from that service was efficient and friendly. The food choices were varied and unusual and the meal was excellent accompanied by a good value Pinot noir... More

This seafood restaurant is tucked away in Kirwan's Lane, off Quay Street. The seafood is very good. I had prawns to start, followed by a sea bass special. Both were good, with the sea bass dish being the more noteworthy of the two. The prices were typical of a quality restaurant. The wine list is also good, and reasonably priced.... More
