So how do I explain that having gone to Griffins Bakery a few days prior and purchased a couple of bagels I returned to buy some more because they are actually very very good. This time I decided I wanted to buy six bagels for the price, stated on a sticker on the stand, that they would cost 3.99 euro.... More

This little gem seems to go on and on,there's all types of little nooks and crannies to sit in and have your breakfast or a scone and tea. We were quite pleased with the scone, it was rather large and a small pot of tea made a lovely breakfast. We also had the mini Irish breakfast-very good sausage, bacon, beans etc.... More

Wonderful breakfast with delicious bacon, sausage, egg, wedges, and of course d bread is great. I'm not really a bread person but even I loved it. And such delightful waitresses serving us with smiles and efficiency. And lastly the baker came out with a huge freshly made bread and took a picture with us.

Enjoyed fab food and bread at Griffins. Staff were lovely and friendly. If you visit make sure and have some of their Conger bread which is made to look like the conger eel. They sell it by the slice or by width. The nicest bread with a lovely cruch crust that you will ever taste.

Don't be fooled by the bakery in the front of the store! I thought I'd just order a quick sandwich and sit outside, turns out they have these adorable rooms in the back and upstairs! The menu has something for everyone, and the service was fast and with a smile. So happy I stumbled upon this place, feels a bit... More

I am a local who does her best to support the small family run businesses in Galway. However I cannot support poor quality. On more than one occasion I have bought bread in Griffins which was clearly stale and had stopped buying bread there as a result. Since they started making the long 'congerloaf' sourdough, very well in the beginning,... More

Great food and very reasonably priced. Nice cosy atmosphere. The place was really busy but the service was good. Great coffee.

There's hardly a better place in Galway on a cold wet winter's day (or even a cold wet summer's day!). I went in there on December 23 having got drenched to the skin in a squall, and I sat in front of the fire, and had hot chocolate. But I've had really good sandwiches there too - especially the turkey... More

Our family loved the simple, yet delicious sandwiches. Try the Turkey, Cranberry & Brie special sandwich. It tastes like Thanksgiving.

A breath of fresh air, that's what Griffins Tea Rooms on Shop Street Galway is. Griffin's is a family run Bakery founded in 1876, but with beautiful tearooms to the rear. Surround your self in traditional surroundings, Irish language and five generations of Griffins by real open fires and enjoy simple food at it's best. All the breads and soups are made in house .The menu is straight forward; sandwich, baps etc.. but all served on Griffin's own delicious home made breads. While enjoying your meal, one can watch and smell the food parade as piping hot bread and cakes are carried out to the shop past your very eyes. You just cant get fresher anywhere! Their award winning breads make such a difference to the sandwiches with a choice of Wheat, Rye, Mixed Grain, Italian, French and even Gluten free bread for Coeliac's. The friendly pleasant staff take charge, store your buggy for you , supply high stools and provide a very reasonably priced children's menu. The children can do colouring on the children's menu while awaiting their order .Half portions of most products is available with wickedly delicious half portions of Belgian hot chocolate.Going to the modern, spotless toilets was a pleasure and in particular that there are baby changing stations in both Female and Male toilets, a very rare thing these days. The smaller room "The Snug" is also noticably popular with breast feeding mothers where they can enjoy a coffee in privacy, warmth and comfort with their babies. Griffins is a must visit, conveniently located at the end of Shop Street Galway City . Further down Quay Street in Galway is the world famous Mc Donaghs Fish and chips, a must for familys on the go or those with a hankering for delicious fresh fish.Martines Winebar is just across the street and fabulous food there late into the night. If you cross the road at the end of Quay Street, you will find Tamirand Restaurant, another delight for parents with children. They offer fantastic Asian style cuisine &half price menu on everything.High chairs and colouring are provided , they even bring the children to the kitchen to make up their icecream desserts. Christine and the team there are fantastic.
