The beautiful decor including original ‘Battle of the Boyne’ frescos are the perfect setting for an enjoyable dining experience. The menu is always well thought out, with an emphasis on local produce. Service is also ‘quiet’ but efficient

My wife and I enjoy the Scholar's restaurant from time time and have never been disappointed. (It is a 90km return journey). Today we went there for Sunday lunch. We got a table at short notice. The place was full - families with First Communion children. Firstly I should remark that the children were all well behaved - not noisy... More

My friend and I visited the restaurant for dinner after reading a review on trip advisor. Being a Friday night on a bank holiday weekend I was a bit worried we wouldn't be able to get a table but luckily the could accommodate us. The staff greeted us with a friendly smile and the service was very professional. The room... More

Wonderful hotel. Superb food. Exceptional staff with a shout out to Sean on reception. The wonderful lady on breakfast service and the gentleman with no hair (sorry) on dinner service. The brothers who run the business were there to make sure everything runs smoothly and finally David the manager who couldn't do enough for us. If you are anywhere in... More

Beautiful place, a historic building preserved in great condition. The service was excellent, the food and presentation also. I think however that most of our party of twelve would agree that the portion size was on the sparse side. However I would certainly return in the future.

I've eaten here in both the bar and the restaurant and loved it! The decor is old worldly with great character. I'd recommend sitting in the bar before a meal in the restaurant, or even staying in the bar / lounge area. The menu is excellent and the food delivers on every level. I'd also recommend their desserts. Excellent visit... More

For a special occasion, my wife and I decided on a meal in Scholars. What a brilliant choice. Our servers were Eugene and Mark and their service was excellent. They were most helpful in describing the ingredients of each dish. As it was, the food was all grown or produced in the local area (except for the delicious fruit salad... More

Lovely food. Had a beautiful fillet steak with all the trimmings. Followed by a lovely brown bread and honey Icecream dessert. A well made irish coffee to finish. Service was good. Very quiet in both the restaurant and the bar. It was Sunday night. Enjoyable experience.
