Great booking experience and very welcoming. Very nice non complicated menus with specials as well. Wow exceptional, perfectly cooked fillet steak as ordered all the way through. Well worth the money! Wonderful staff abiding to current regulations. Not the first trip to this lovely country...pub/ restaurant in the village of Kilbride in Co. Meath. Well done to all management and staff looking forward to my next visit very soon. Michael Moriarty.More

I've been meaning to write a review of Sweeney's for quite some time. I've been heading to Sweeney's for over three years now... that much I've lost count the amount of times. I honestly can't remember a time when I haven't left Sweeney's contented. It's...hard to find a place in Dublin like it (that's actually in Meath :D) ... not many places would pick you up and leave you home on a night out (pre "Covid 19"... hopefully things will revert to normal soon). I think most people locally were delighted to see Sweeney's reopen after the relaxation of Covid 19 restrictions. Tonight I had Seabass & Prawns in a bed of veg & couscous. Dessert was mixed berry cheesecake with cream & ice cream. As you can see, both looked & tasted delightful. Anyhow, I would urge anyone living locally to try Sweeney's... you won't be disappointed.More

went to Sweeneys last week for Sunday Carvery-we were greeted by smiley friendly staff and warm fires. We got the 3 meat Carvery, which was super tasty, came with loads of veg, and a side of gravy which was most welcomed. Lovely chilled atmosphere, mixture...of couples, families and groups of friends, suitable to all. Deserts were fab, sticky toffee pudding and apple and plum pie-made fresh that morning! We were so happy to see them arrive with huge ice cream cones on top-AMAZING! We chilled in the cosy bar downstairs after and sampled the Guinness, was so good we had to have 2! already planning our next trip back. Well done to all the staff and compliments to the chef in Sweeneys, see you all again soon.More

Had Sunday dinner here with my family and it was very good indeed. The menu is great for families with a blend of carvery and an a la carte option. Portions are generous and service is prompt and courteous. Great value for money and this...is a hidden gem that is well worth the drive out to Kilbride. Will be back regularly.More

We have been coming to Sweeny's a good while, however, the food over the past couple of months has been outstanding! Servers are lovely and friendly and go above and beyond for their customers. Would literally eat here every day if we had the means...to! Have tried lots of the menu and every dish has been excellent :)More

Sweeney's is a great local spot. Super friendly and efficient staff at all times. The new chef Vadim and his team are great. The Sunday carvery is fantastic, get in the queue quick! The bar food is also superb...a visit is a must.

Have eaten here a number of times recently and it has gone from strength to strength. Menu is balanced and food quality is excellent with the new chef. Service is fast and efficient. Carbery is excellent but so is the a la Carte menu. Lamb...was excellent and so was the korma curry. I had the Cajun chicken burger and is was one of the best I ever had. A visit is highly recommended.More

Was delighted to get a booking here for Christmas Eve but turned out to be very disappointing. There was 8 in our party and the downstairs was not that busy so ordered drinks and placed our food orders. We waited over an hour and were...informed the burners had gone off in the kitchen. We had another drink and waited and waited. It was an hour and a half before the food arrived. Unfortunately it was worth the wait the cod and prawns combo was only lukewarm and came on a bed of sautéed veg swimming in an oily sauce. There were no potato’s or rice served with it and there was no chips available. I can understand there was a problem with the kitchen but we were were not offered anything off the bill. I would usually ask but didn’t want to make things worse as the staff were already stressed. Sorry don’t think I’ll be rushing back.More
