I was one of the 38 on the annual Christmas dog walk. Our party pre ordered the food from the standard menu and was happy with the standard of food and serviced received.

Just back from an excellent Sunday Lunch. We both had the roast beef dinner which was great value. Nice ambiance, good pub.

I have been coming to this pub for many, many years. It was in the 80s, a quaint, old fashioned, homely, warm pub where you could sit and have a basic meal with your pint. The bar area was rustic, and quaint and the landlord used to have a distinctive whistle (ill always remember that!!) Now the heart has been ripped... More

Called yesterday for lunch and enjoyed both the food and the service. Very pleasant and helpful staff. I have complained about this place in the past but was happy with my visit yesterday.

Since the new owners have taken over its a horrible place to eat. Overpriced frozen food. The owner is a delight also. He kept telling everbody the frozen food hadnt arrived, so there was no food avaliable!!! What a fool. We at there about a month.ago and it was shocking........the chicken wings were a disgrace.......such a shame as it was... More

I fancied a steak. The prices looked really good value. Ordered a nice pint of bitter. When I ordered a rare rib eye the alarm bells should have started to ring as the order was repeated back to me as it the waitress couldn't believe the order was real. The service was quick. The rib eye was cooked very badly.... More

The Black Dog is a pub set up to serve good, simple food. The layout of the main dining room was comfortable and spacious with a nice warm atmosphere. Clearly service is key in the mind of the staff who were cheerful, pleasant and keen to please. Great food. My choice was the Red Thai Curry served with prawn crackers,... More

We had passed the Black Dog so many times but this time we decided to call in. Located in the village of Belmont on the road between Rivington and Belmont it is in a part of the NW dominated by moorland. The pub inside has plenty of tables and some inglenooks with real fires. The pub is also dog friendly.... More

Seemed like a good reason reason for a few drinks and a meal on a Friday night, there were 9 of us and 2 dogs, we had a nice room to ourselves, great food, great service, great wine, water and treats for the dogs. Everyone had a wonderful evening including the dogs

Description
In 2016, the pub underwent an extensive refurbishment and now offers, what we believe to be the finest dining experience available in the area. Careful attention was given to retain the original characteristics of the building but still providing a contemporary feel inside showcasing an open fire, cosy en-suite accommodation rooms, outside beer garden in the lovely countryside area of Belmont Village. The country pub has added a new menu complimented with Gastro pub specials, a mouth-watering ice-cream parlour accompanied with freshly made desserts that is served throughout the year. For the drinkers, the pubs offers a vast array of premium spirits, selected fine wines and world beers to quench all taste buds.
