Dropped in for lunch and the Santa's Sandwich is back on! Great. Christmas lunch in a sandwich. Tasty turkey, all the trimmings (minus sprouts) and great gravy to dunk your sandwich in. And I think very good value. Washed down with a very good pint of Wainrights. Pub is nicely decorated for Christmas without being over the top. Lovely open... More

Warm welcome and friendly staff. Food always very good. Log fires always good in the winter. We like the seating in cubicles. Landlord and staff always look after you.

Had to wait a long time for our decidedly mediocre food. And I found the over-zealous hyperactive landlord a little bit unsettling.

My husband and I ate here after a lovely walk with our dog in the area. The manager gave us a friendly welcome and gave good information with regard to daily specials. Our drinks were brought to our table and all the staff were polite and helpful. We chose the fish and chip special for two and at £12 for... More

You are always sure of a warm greeting at The Smiths Arms. On our second visit we were greeted by name which was a great surprise but very welcoming. We have been often & have enjoyed many meals there for birthdays, anniversaries and New Years Eve when they have live entertainment.

Dropped in for tea...well dinner really.. on a wet Sunday. The service was ok for a quite busy pub, beer its usual excellent self...a good selection of Thwaites real ales and craft beers. Food all round was delicious. My Smiths chicken with bacon lardons blue cheese sauce and pesto mash was outstanding. Another 5 star hugely enjoyable meal.

Returned to the Smiths after a few years absence, and to new landlords. Good pub fare menu, own pizza oven and a lovely young waitress so very keen to excell, even after just a few shifts. Great garlic bread from the pizza oven, followed by tasty scampi and excellent fish and chips. We ordered 3 garlic breads, fortunately the landlord... More

Visited the smiths arms Sunday afternoon, there was only 2 other people eating , it was our first visit there as we are considering buying a caravan in the area, and the food had been recommended, we ordered gammon and chips and the steak and ale pie the chips were from a packet, the gammon was salty, and my pie...
