Me and my partner had a fabulous time visiting El Capo recently. The taco deal where their tacos start from £1 and margarita cocktail deal where they were £6 were both excellent value for money and the waitress serving us was so sweet and accomodating....The venue had a lively and vibrant atmosphere too. All in all, a great visit!More
Hi Lisa, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback. We hope you'll visit us again soon! Kind Regards, El Capo Management
Took ages to be seated although we had a reservation, staff didn't apologise or tell us why. Music was really loud so I couldn't hear what barman was saying to me. Food arrived fairly quick, but was cold and store bought, not fresh mexican. The...staff were super rude when I mentioned the cold food, especially this one guy with a hat on who literally couldn't care less about what I was saying. Not coming here again.More

Terrible experience! The staff were dismissive, flippant and rude. The music was so loud no one at our table could talk to each other and we couldn't hear the waiting staff. A bar man with neck tattoos (Aaron, I believe) spoke so aggressively to me...I was shocked. The staff in El CRapo either hate their job and don't care, or just really don't like customers. If I was the boss of this place I would be seriously training my staff or replacing them. We left before we could be further abused by the ignoramuses at this rubbish establishment.More
I don't usually kick up a fuss, but I had to leave a review as the service we received while visiting was so appalling it nearly brought me to tears. I have also worked in hospitality and I know just how busy and frustrating it...can be sometimes. However, there is no excuse for the the way one of the staff members spoke to my mum. I took my parents and family members out for lunch while they were visiting me in Manchester. I made reservations at El Capo because we wanted Mexican food and a good time. I just need to mention that there are members of my family who are autistic. When we sat down, the music was incredibly loud, however that's nothing unusual. We couldn't hear the waitress who was taking our order, so we had to repeat it after she'd left. Suddenly, the music volume was turned wayy up to the point where my mum thought she'd politely ask a member of staff to turn it down a bit as we're struggling to hear each other speak. This staff member, apparently called Aaron (neck tattoo, wore a hat) said "what do you expect, us to turn it down for one table?". My mum, who is always very reasonable and lovely, explained that we struggling to hear each other. He said "talk louder then" and rolled his eyes. After a couple of minutes, we decided to go. I spoke to Aaron and said we have members of our family who are autistic, and that I don't appreciate how rude he was being. He couldn't care less ,"what do you expect me to do?" he said. Wouldn't recommend going here unless you love loud music to the point of not being able to hear your friends.More
Waited 10 mins at the door with no acknowledgement. Then they refused us entry because I said I had an intolerance. The staff where using the excuse of new law but currently this doesn't apply to restaurants. Very annoyed as not local to Manchester and...here for weekend away, was told this was a nice place to go. I would not recommend. They did email a few hours before which we didn't read as had a busy day but emailing a few hours before doesn't help when you have something booked for a while. Especially on a busy weekend. Even if this law was applicable to restaurants the law came into force 2years go showing they just don't care and is an excuse. Wouldn't recommend to anyone will allergy or intolerance.More

Food came quickly and is incredibly delicious, no faults whatsoever at the kitchen, but drinks forgotten and chased. Water missing from order. Realised we didn’t have a side plate or enough serviettes, but couldn’t get attention of staff and eager to eat, ‘borrowed’ from table...next to us. Enjoying the atmosphere, we opted for a few more drinks. These were slow and the wrong item was brought - on two occasions of the same drinks order. Water was also forgotten, again with no explanation or apology given for drinks service so far. Margaritas were good but maybe a problem with the slushy machine as frozen margs we’re more of a slurry. Got the bill and saw a discretionary service charge of 10% added to the bill, which we didn’t think was fair given the experience. When we told the waitress we wanted it off she seemed disgruntled and went off to remove the charge. She asked for feedback, but clearly didn’t listen or care at this point as she just waited for the card payment to go through said ‘OK’ and left the table immediately. Overall, the service really let down the food. If any of the things happened in isolation, they could be forgiven but repeat poor service led to us. If we had an option to pay the service charge directly to the kitchen we would have. Wouldn’t recommended based on the above.More

I ordered a frozen margarita and got served one not frozen...& was told the ice machine not working! So they had put ice cubes in!! So I sent that back and had a glass of red wine instead.More

My friends and I had booked this place for dinner together. When booking we received an email regarding disclosing allergens but nowhere did it mention that this would be an issue. When we turned up our table was not ready so we were asked to...grab a drink in the bar next door, which was fine & we received a discount as we were waiting for our table. When we sat down we ordered our drinks and were given time to decide on food. When the waitress returned to take the food order she asked about allergies. I disclosed that I had an allergy and she said she would need to talk to her manager. When she returned she told me that I wasn’t allowed to order anything from the menu as they have a small kitchen and so cross contamination could occur. This is something I’ve heard before at restaurants so wasn’t a surprise and I completely understood the risk. I explained that my food being prepared in the same space wouldn’t be an issue and that I would only react if if I ingested the allergen in a larger quantity. Although I was willing to take full responsibility for this I was told I wasn’t allowed to order anything off the menu and couldn’t even have water from behind the bar, in case of ‘contamination’. Again I understand the worry here as a business but it seemed a little excessive that I was expected to either leave or sit there whilst my friends ate and I couldn’t even have water whilst I sat there. I was offered vouchers for the bar next door for the inconvenience. However, I booked for dinner and a drink was hardly going to fill a space in my empty stomach. Of course my friends thought it was unfair that I should sit there whilst they ate without me so we left. By this point as our table had been late it was around 9pm and so finding another place to accommodate us all was a bit of a challenge. Again, I understand as a business it must be a worry that you could be liable for any harm coming to your customers but to essentially discriminate against me and refuse to serve me anything at all is a bit of a joke. This made me feel really uncomfortable and as though I shouldn’t disclose my allergies in the future in fears of being treated differently. This could be life threatening for me, so thank you so much for making me feel so small on what was supposed to be a nice evening with my friends. Will not be returning :)More

Booked El Capo for Bottomless Brunch for a birthday celebration. The booze choices were Sol beer, Mimosas or Margaritas - strawberry and classic. The service was excellent - you never waited long to order a drink. On one round they were a bit slower but...the owner Audie was very attentive and offered us a free shot. Food - tacos - were good. Just a pity you couldn't stagger the order as they all came at once. Fun place and lots of atmosphere.More

My friend and I decided to go in to Manchester for an evening meal and after fancying Mexican food, we reviewed El Capo here on TripAdviser and booked a table. We parked on Dale Street car park which was reasonably priced and just a few...minutes walk. Very convenient. On arrival we received a warm welcome and were shown to our table. The atmosphere was good and our waiter, who was called Josh, was just amazing. Friendly, funny and super efficient. Being both vegetarian, we were pondering over the menu and Josh came to our rescue. Great recommendation as we just loved the ‘Signor Vegano’ dish, which featured roasted cajun cauliflower that was delicious! To drink we had Aperol Margaritas and they were quite special too. Everything was well presented and we were delighted with how well were looked after. Lovely restaurant and we will visit again. Thank you.More

Lovely bar we found while wandering through NQ; we didn't have a booking but the staff were so accommodating anyway. Bubbles, our server, was so efficient even though it was clearly busy and the rest of the team were welcoming and lovely too! Not to...mention the value for money, we got 8 tacos, 5 cocktails and shots for £50 including service! Would definitely recommend and will be coming back 😊More
