all staff and managers are not in one bit racist you only saw half the issue has we explained to you last night it was the other man who started the comments first not the other way round and when we are that busy we can not hear or see everything the bouncer has to try to keep the situation... Watched as a customer made repeated threats and intimidated another group of customers. The bouncer didn't care and waved in a patronising way as the group who had been verbally attacked left. When I spoke to the bouncer and asked for his number to report him he took it off and put it in his pocket. Manager hung up on... More

Saw a guy being openly intimidating towards a black guy. Bouncers shook his hand instead of kicking him out. When asked their response was that it wasn't their problem.

sit out side what ever the weather 2pubs together the old wellington . lots of out side seats , people seem to sit there what ever the weather. I guess it because inside isn't that Big . be prepared to que at the bar. beer is cheaper than most Bars in the city centre.

Massive choice of ales. Very cheap drinks in very nice olde world surroundings. One of the oldest pubs in Manchester.

Great ancient pub. Nice terrasse. Lot of beers. Friendly staff. Full of tourists but it worth it. In the center town.

Recently came here with some family members for a birthday. We sat upstairs which was pleasant enough and not too busy (it was a Wednesday afternoon). This is a fascinating venue in many ways and I appreciate the quirky coves and corners it's old age presents. They have a few beers but oddly limited at the same time. Went there for a drink on two separate occasions and venue reasonably priced and great location.Fully endorse previous reviews around making sure staff give correct change!

Historic Samuel Smiths pub beside Manchester Cathedral. Good beer at £2.00 a pint. Great place to meet friends for an afternoon session.
