Come hungry, as this place really serves out whopping big portions (for example, the Choucroute plate came with 3 (delicious!) potatoes, 3 sausages, and 2 huge cross-sections of pork belly on top of about a pickle's jar worth of sauerkraut, and the best we'd ever had!). The ladies who own it are really nice, and a friend of my teacher... More

Besides one of the Xmas Market, food was good and quantity good also. Not cheap but not expensive, most of clients were locals. Choucroute was very good

Not far from the centre, but a little off the beaten track, this charming little restaurant is a great find. In the warm evenings it was nice to sit at the tables outside. The menu is not extensive, but has a nice selection of local dishes. We enjoyed it so much we actually ate there twice out of our 3... More

We were walking along and stumbled on au Chasseur. What a nice surprise! First, we had some wine, as they were not serving dinner yet. We decided to try to eat closer to our hotel. But circumstance led us back here for dinner. The weather was unseasonably warm, so all of the outside tables were taken. We ate inside, and... More

We wanted to eat real Alsace food and found this little restaurant. It was my sons first time visiting the Alsace and he fell in love with it. It was the perfect restaurant to eat flammkuchen and Choucrute with sausage and ham. It was big portions and delicious. The waitress was fast and had to run, because there is an... More

We stumbled into this restaurant on a late evening in search of some food and were positively surprised by how nice it was. The staff was very friendly and fast, especially dealing with my broken French. Food was a nice surprise: The salad my partner ordered had a large slab of foie gras and loads of scampi on it. Great... More

If you look at my reviews you'll find that I never post anything I don't find very good to excellent. That said, this visit to Au Chasseur was our third one. We come each year to visit our son and his family in Zurich and make a trip to Colmar both for the charming little town and for the chance... More

This is a very pretty restaurant with a ground and first floor up a spiral staircase. It is decorated in the chalet style with gingham tablecloths and matching curtains over coloured glass windows. The sole waitress upstairs worked very hard and pretty much kept up with all the orders as it was very busy. There was an a la carte... More

The real surprise package from our 11 day stay in Colmar, Booked on a whim, having passed it on a walk and thinking it looked a little like Rene's bar from Allo Allo. Expected some ordinary local fare. Imagine our surprise when the food turned to be brilliant. My warm seafood starter (a bit costly perhaps at 17 euro) was... More
