One of the best breakfast I have ever had. An amazing place with a very large variety of coffees, teas and hot chocolates. The decor is very authentic with a medieval building. Loved it!

Arrived on Monday lunchtime as my favorite restaurant in this part of France was closed (Le Relais des Gourmets) waited for 10 minutes then asked if we could order some drinks - we were ignored for a further 5 minutes at which point we left....A classic case of under staffing.More

... in a quaint part of Avallon, not far from the basilica and the tourist office. We‘ve enjoyed a simple lunch there (quiche lorraine as a main, an apricot-almond-tart as dessert) and have been satisfied. Average at its best. The garden and the salon are...oldfashioned and offer a pleasant and cosy atmosphere. The service has been OK, not too friendly.More

We arrived in the tea room at 6pm .There was only one person in the indoor room and few persons outside in the small courtyard. We have been waiting 10 minutes but nobody came to take our order. The personal was joking and laughing in...the kitchen but did not care of us. Therefore we decided to leave without having drinked and eat anything. Probably this establishment do not need customers. It will be a long time before I will pay a visit again.More

Amongst the best meal in France during our 6 week holiday, having tried 1-2 restaurants daily. Dog friendly too. The waiters were v hospitable, English not a problem. The food was really good (I had lamb shank which was v large and v tasty, my...wife had the aubergine moussaka). Same for v large and tasty desert, followed by tropical fruit tea which was unusual but lovely. Also had great smoothies with lots of fruit. Surely with popping in for lunch.More

Nicely decorated old fashioned restaurant where the food is excellent. Waiters take an amazing care putting the forks / knives and glasses at a perfect location on the table. They welcome you wearing t-shirts, but offer a high class service. Our meal was excellent, we...wished we were staying another day in Avallon, we would have returned. Plate size was generous, nice variety, everything was delicious.More

We have visited Dame Jeanne on several occasions, as the delicious tea, coffee and pastry draw us like a magnet! We have taken a number of friends here, and none are ever disappointed. The light meals are also excellent! And the service is very pleasant....Being outside of Paris, the prices are also quite reasonable. Highly recommended!More

We had read about this little restaurant and wanted to try it. I had the aubergine lasagne and my husband had the choux pastry with local creamy cheese. Both were delicious. As the next day was a fete day, our friendly waiter suggested we book...for lunch but we had planned a visit to Noyers sur Serein. We decided to book at drinks time, 6pm but they were very happy to serve food at that time and saved a beef bourgingnon for my husband and another aubergine for me. Both superb. We had the rhubarb dessert our first night and a mirabelle plum tart on the second night. Just beautiful and our waiter suggested we visit Flavigny sur Ozerain today which we did. Enjoyed that too. Don't deny yourself a special treat. Eat and drink here for lunch or early dinner.More

Very good environment to chill, do some work and drink some region wine. The back garden is perfect for summer time and the costumer service was perfect.

We were looking for somewhere to have a light lunch and saw this place not far from the tourist office. We were directed through to the garden, which was full of hydrangeas in bloom and a lovely spot on a hot day. Having been given...a mini blackboard showing that day's specials, we both chose courgette and goats cheese tart which was delicious. After good coffee (the coffees and teas are a speciality here) we left ready for further sight seeing in this pretty little town.More

I convinced my family to exit the highway and go to this restaurant. Best decision of the day. Very nice restaurant, typical French decor, on a budget. My French great father said that the food was as good as what her mum made him. If...think that says it all.More

Take the natural one and enjoy. Small cup of water and you're all set. The staff is the smiling type and there are all sort of travel books to make you smarter. Cocoa.

This was our second visit to Avallon and the second visit to Dame Jeanne. The first time we took afternoon tea, but this time we had lunch. Tables are set out in two period rooms with a peaceful atmosphere. The garden was closed as it...was a cold October day. We wanted a lunch that was not too filling and the simple menu gave a good choice of freshly made food. The smoked salmon tart with salad was excellent. Dame Jeanne prides itself on its range of teas, coffees and hot chocolate and they fill more pages of the drinks menu than wines, beers, etc. Service is friendly and efficient. It is definitely a place to visit next time we are in Avallon.More

By far the cosiest and nicest place to enjoy any kind of hot drink, snack - salted or sweet, light lunch or afternoon tea in Avallon. In winter time you'll appreciate the warm wooden decor of a bourgeois town-house, and in the summer the peaceful...little courtyard. For a salted meal try the heavenly Gougères filled with Epoisses, in my opinion one of Burgundy's top inventions. The salon is centrally situated on the way to Avallon's main tourist sites and approx. 100 meters from the tourist office.More
