Reservations Required!!! Simply terrific atmosphere, service and food. Appetizer of venison pate with rhubarb chutney, boeuf entre and a nice selection of Loire Valley wines. A nice walk from the train station or cathedral.

This time restaurant is a short walk down the road from the cathedral. Like many bistros, it has a smallish menu. The foie gras was excellent: slices of liver with thin honey and raisin bread. The lamb knuckle cooked with dried fruit in local cider was also very fine. There are numerous set menus ; I wish I had had... More

I found by chance a very charming restaurant in the historic city part of Chartres very need the cathedral. The building was created during the reign of Henri IV in the 16th century, The tables are not close together and the restaurant is family owned like many restaurants in France were in past times. The food is of excellent quality... More

We dropped down to Chartres for the day to revisit the Cathedral - Mrs. Sothoth had never been and it was 34 years since my own last visit. Now being in Paris you can get turned off by the experience of being in France - they can be a bit brusque. I always ascribed this to urban business rather than... More

We both had the same meal: Lagonstini morsels in a Balsamic dressing with Rocket, Sun-dried Tomatoes and grape tomato halves as the starter, delicious. Filet of Beef with caramelized baby onions, braised vegetables and brown sauce as the main, good. Chocolate mousse sandwiched between chocolate wafers with raspberries and strawberries and whipped cream with one coffee for dessert, decadent. Enjoyed... More

It was Sunday and we were driving from the Loire Valley to Normandy and wanted to take in the Chartres Cathedral on the way. Although she had not eaten there, our guide recommended Le Tripot as it had gotten good reviews from her guide friends. Although small, it was very comfortable and clearly a local favorite for Sunday lunch. Service... More

Apart from a slight hiatus over the table booking, this was very good indeed. The restaurant is quite small, the staff are very friendly and well versed in both the menu, the daily specials and the wine list. Our meal was nicely cooked and presented; service was unobtrusive; the price was very fair. A very good experience

Another lovely lunch at Le Tripot. One of our favourite restaurants in the region. Looking forward to May 2017 when I'll be back. Shopping, eating and drinking in my favourite town in France.

We arrived in Paris and drove directly to Chartres on a Saturday. We spent the afternoon wandering around the cathedral and the old town. As dinner time neared, we thought we could just wander in to any restaurant for a meal. Alas, every restaurant we entered was booked with reservations. We tried Le Tripot and were grateful they had had... More

A lovely, intimate restaurant. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The fish was perfectly cooked and good bread and green side salads. The service was excellent. Highly recommended.
