Chartres is not a cheap place to eat and we felt a lot of the restaurants were either pretentious or had boring menus. Also being Tuesday most of those round the cathedral were closed. We chose this place because the menu looked most interesting. It's not fancy but the service was friendly and the menu includes a free aperitif kir.... More

This was a restaurant we could afford and we were well rewarded with an excellent meal. Had we been staying longer we would have gone there again

In the decades I've been coming to France I've only had a few bad meals; this was one of them. My companion and I both ordered the Gallettes Irlandais as a first course which turned out to be nothing more than melted, congealed cheddar cheese over some wheat meal biscuits garnished with some mango strips. But the real treat was... More

We were made very welcome on a busy Saturday evening. We ate inside which being non smokers was ideal. A complimentary glass of kir was served while we per used the menu. We opted for the 28 Euro menu and paid an extra 4 euros for the fois gras starter which was out of this world. The main courses were... More

A busy brasserie. The server was very pleasant but service was slower than we would have wished. The menu was reasonable. Our meal was pleasant in a nice sort of way but nothing out of the ordinary - we had better meals in similar establishments elsewhere.

Having just arrived in Chartres we had not made a reservation and having been turned away by four other restaurants we were pleased to get a table at the Brasserie des Changes close to the cathedral. There is quite a small menu and some may struggle but I had a nice meal - the foie gras was nice and the... More

Walked into this brasserie on a very hot night and got a table for two outside. Very busy and only a couple of staff who were very efficient. A nice change that neither spoke English despite the city being full of tourists. Great location between the old market hall and Cathedral. Simple menu but very well executed. Complimentary glass of... More

Several other recommended restaurants had closed when we arrived late. We were seated quickly, and our servers were very friendly, helpful, and tolerant of my persistence to use my French. Really great Brasserie food, excellent desserts and wonderful apricot kir. The friendly service and quality food and drinks made it a standout.
