Simply a great place to sit, have a drink or snack and watch the world go by - excellent location to relax in the sunshine.

Not bad food but it is not great either. Expensive for what they give you. Not many options on the menu and they do not have all. The brunch is pretty small.

Superb venue for breakfast if you stay at Hotel des Academies which is only a 5 minute walk away. Try the cheese and ham omelette with freshly squeezed orange juice and a double expresso to finish. Sit outside under the heated canopy and watch the area come to life early in the morning. Great food, great service and all at... More

On a bustling street surrounded by boutiques, Cafe Vavin has been the local cafe of choice for many, many years. After a saunter through the Jardins de Luxembourg just a block away, it was lovely to sit in the sun on a hot September day and have one of the their luscious salads before heading off again. The chicken caesar was... More

This cute cafe is a short walk from Jardins du Luxembourg. The food is good and traditional (steak tartare, croque monsieur), but there are cheeseburgers and pasta and other food for those that are more picky. The staff was friendly, though not super excited to speak English. Bathrooms are in the basement and were clean. Be warned: if you sit... More

Not a destination restaurant, but a very friendly place to meet up, get coffee or wine, snack, eat, and people-watch on a lovely small street that won't make you feel like a tourist.

This typical Parisian cafe is in the heart of Beaux Arts area OF Montparnasse at the crossroad of rue Vavin and Rue Brea. Typically tables are ridiculously close to the pedestrians and local traffic but one gets used to that quickly if living in Paris. You will get either potato crisps or peanuts with you glass of beer and olives... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
