We sat at Cafe Bonaparte for a couple of hours on a lovely Sunday in early spring. The omelette was delicious as was the smoked salmon.

We had a long day out and spotted Cafe Bonaparte on our way back to our hotel. Pleasantly surprised staff are very friendly offered us a English menu although the French menu was fine. Excellent drinks selection and food menu has something for everyone.

We met some French friends for lunch and the staff made us feel very welcome. It is a popular location and not cheap but you do get what you pay for, and it was very nice indeed, and felt “up-market”. We have been twice now and were very happy with the service and food/wine quality, and will return. A nice... More

Food is good, service is good, outside is great for people watching, inside is nice. I stop here whenever I am in Paris. And I look forward to my next visit!

It was late afternoon and we needed lunch. We opted for this place as it is tucked away from the busy Saint Germain shopping street and, sitting behind the famous literary haunts Les Deux Magots and Cafe de Flore, it seemed like a cheaper, lower profile alternative. It was that. What we didn't realize was at this time of day... More

We went here for dinner and had very tasty meals and good wine. The service was particularly great! Lovely decor and atmosphere too - would return :)

Good service and average menu, this place doesn't impress but doesn't disapoint either. Nice open windows looking over the terrass. Good place to relax when in the area.

We always enjoy Le Bonaparte. The breakfast is very good with several options available. We also enjoyed a lunch and dinner here and both were very good. The menu has a bit of something for everyone. Staff is pleasant and menus are available in English, if needed.

We were five, coming in from the cold. The process of ordering could have turned a saint to an ISIS cohort. Ee got everything intact. A mistakenly prepared dish was taken off without the usual plea. We could not care less about the food (which was good, though), seeing the well known rudeness of the Parisian garçon broken to pieces.... More

I love going to the Bonaparte. They have interesting things on the menu but more importantly, I love the atmosphere. Located across from Les Deux Magots, it is much more relaxed and much less touristy. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is very warm and cosy.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
