In Mexico this is MY favourite restaurant... so I thought the restaurant in Paris was going to be spectacular but it's just good.

Nice and old place with beautiful decoration, lights. The food, especially the jambon is so yummy. And i love the way the pink pig meringues come out with the bill

We went on a Saturday for lunch. It was outstanding. We had been by the day before on a tour of Les Halles and the guide pointed it out. We liked the menu so we returned. We loved the professional service. My husband gives a thumbs up to the onion soup - very cheesy. The snails were good. Their Cod... More

It was a surprise to my 70years old Mather, who had never been abroad. Paris was like a dream for her. And I searched for something extra. The restaurant looked like it is. But the main dish from chef ... It was reall pig'f foot without any indication of taste and, of course, meet. We were disappointed.

We were searching for a place with a great onion soup and we found it. A really big plate of the soup itself, covered with a good lawyer of good bread and A LOT of cheese on top. A full meal, without any jokes. We also had a plate of moules-frites (which was also amazing) to share for two but... More

Make sure you have a reservation as this place is well known and very good otherwise you run the risk to wait. The Seafoof is great and fresh and I can highly recommend the tartar boaef - both excellent. Steaks are nice but not the highest level ...better eat these in the US, Brasil or Argentine...but not in Europe.

I had onion soup before here (about 4 years ago) and wanted to return. It was very good but maybe not quite as good as I remember! I am pleased I went and I did enjoy it, but may not rush back.

This place used to be one of the greatest brasserie in Paris for yearssss. I used to go there years ago with my family, the atmosphere the service , the quality of the products is poor. I will never return overthere. So sad to see one of the top french brasserie looking like that... :(

Good, but pricy. The seafood bar is a plus, and so is the wine list. I like this place although I find the tab to be a bit much.

My husband and I enjoyed this restaurant. The formal feel with an old fashioned decor was fun. I had the French onion soup which was excellent. We shared an oyster sampler which was super fresh and tasted very "of the sea". My husband tried a fried pig's foot which was quite rich and tasty. For dessert we had the fantastic... More

Description
The ovens at Au Pied de Cochon were fired up in 1946 and they have never been turned off since. Au Pied de Cochon is a Paris institution, very near the Centre Pompidou, on your way from shopping the first arrondissement to the sightseeing the Marais. It is decorated with a profusion of Art Nouveau stylistic touches, like mirrors, fantastic chandeliers, paintings of lovely ladies. There is also an enticing terrace, and, as it's open 24/7, you can come in anytime for a meal and to watch the world go by. Menu is French. Try starter of oysters of several types and sizes, house special main course of pig's trotter stuffed with duck liver and pudding of babas au rhum.

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
