The sauerkraut ("choucroute") main course dish, served with sausages, pork and potato (all in all a large portion), is delicious. I had the caesar salad as appetizer and cheese for dessert. The whole meal was excellent. With three glasses of superb wine, this wasn't an...More

My husband and I went for New Year's Eve. No expensive holiday menu, no crowds, just great food and attentive service. Exactly what we wanted! I had the sole meunière and it was delicious. The sole was cooked in butter and herbs and it came...More

I've been to Brasserie Balzar in 2011, and 2013. The pepper steak was good sized, juicy and the jus was delicious. I was looking to get more of the same but it seems the steak was half the size and overcooked. Technique and value has...More

Faultless meal and service. Nice ambience, not slow but not rushed. We had the rump steak and Parmentier Duck. Real old fashioned service with that certain Parisienne style and panache. Great recommendations (e.g. steak cooked medium not bien-cuit was spot-on. If you’re looking for a...More

Nothing spectacular, not as good as I expected, but not bad. A bit overpriced. My wife's sole meuniere was delicious, my sausage was a little scary (my bad on the ordering), wine was delicious, waiter was meh. A solid choice, but resting on its laurels...More

The french onion soup was really good, as was the special pumpkin soup. The steak was tasty too. The staff were helpful and friendly. This overall is a relaxing neighborhood brasserie that is a good value.

Not cheap but a genuine French Brasserie experience. It’s a small place with exceptional service and good quality basic French food. We ate herring with warm potatoes and soft egg in a cream and mushroom sauce followed by roast chicken and chips. This was a...More

When the bulk of the clientele are locals, and recognized by the restaurant staff, you know you found a really good place for dinner. It was recommended by the hotel concierge, when my wife asked for escargots. And unlike the stuff the cruise ship serves...More
