I'm afraid I must agree with another recent reviewer who said the AOC has gone downhill a bit. We've been twice before and loved it, but on our most recent visit we arrived at 8pm to find it deserted. We sat there feeling that awkward...More

We stumbled on L'AOC years ago and have been coming back every trip to Paris. The food is outstanding-- very high quality and good portions, which is perfectly cooked every time. The ambience is classic French bistro and the restaurant is filled with local residents...More

You'd probably not find it without someone telling you about it. We found L'A.O.C. in Patricia Wells' Food Lovers Guide to Paris, and recommend it to anyone looking for authenticity and charm, and outstanding cooking in a real time-honored way. Although we speak French decently,...More

Found this restaurant in the book "Where chefs eat" and read a lot of positive feedback from visitors on Trip Advisor. Few guests at our visits but still the lady that showed us to our table was in a great hurry to take our order....More

Over the last five years, we have eaten at this restaurant, which specializes in meat and offal. The menu is always select and one is spoiled for choice, with a range of dishes that look well worth trying. The quality of the cuisine ranges from...More

A restaurant dedicated to carnivores should maybe also think of the paraphernalia: atmosphere, vegetables, that little extra that adds to the steak. The fries were too big and too soggy. The boeuf tartare was too big and too pale. This being said, one needs to...More

This small well run restaurant is a culinary gem. This is good traditional French cuisine. I have been many times with different numbers of people in my party, both for lunch and dinner. From a dinner party of 14 to a lunch for 2. We...More

L'Aoc is another recommendation in Pudlo's review and by now we know to expect good food, which we got. I had excellent cuts of piglet in a wonderful natural sauce and soft fried potatoes, and a very generous slab of fois gras de canard as...More

When we arrived there was a large party filling the restaurant but we were well looked after, Madame running the show very efficiently. Strictly for carnivores and specialising in offal, this will not be to all tastes. We shared the starter of cold meats but...More

Excellent choice of typically French cuisine. I enjoy the terrine, suckling pig and duck dishes, while friends I've brought over a few times tried signature dishes such as snails and onion soup and were always full of praise. The food isn't the reason I go...More

Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life,
architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The
small streets are filled with classical buildings,
student bars and lively eateries while the squares are
dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined
by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin
once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which
celebrates the great men and women of France. During

l'AOC is named for those important little letters you find on your bottle of wine, not the grands vins, but the darned drinkable ones of more quotidian price. This small, welcoming restaurant is like a proper country eaterie, but in the heart of lively Boulelvard St Germain. There are tiles on the floor, charming prints and cookware adorn the walls, yet white tablecloths and smart service. You generally choose your plate of mixed starters, charcuterie and the like, from the buffet laid out on the polished antique chest-of-drawers. Then move on to one of the wonderful grilled dishes that are the speciality of the house. As you might suspect, the wine list is well worth exploration.
