A Parisian friend took me here for my birthday. We had an absolutely delightful time. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service very pleasant and the food perfectly prepared and presented. Although it wasn't cheap, given the quality of the meal, I thought it was very reasonably priced. The location is a bit out of the way, but it is just... More

We had scallops which were exquisite, followed by duck ready cooked to perfection. My partner had fish which was excellent. Beautiful desserts. The service was friendly, and efficient.

We came here by chance and it was a pleasant surprise. Tasty, interesting and well presented dishes. Reasonably priced. Good service.

I came to eat here some 15 years ago when it was almost new (I think) and was super impressed. I don't know if the owner/team have changed since (surely), but this time I was not super impressed. The restaurant was almost full but we had made a reservation and should have been treated in a nicer manner. The main... More

Great food, amusing staff, decent prices, and not as crowded as many restaurants. The pot-au-feu was very popular, as were the fish dishes. For dessert, go for the roasted pear: Yum!

Been there 2 hours ago, although completely book I was really disappointed 'cause food is average, nothing special, but the prices are high: main course is 22€ if not taken together with entree&desert. Chef is obviously playing with the food but not on a good way.

We were really excited to eat here since it was recommended in various places but I have to say that if you skip it, you will be fine. The staff are very friendly, and it is a small and cozy place, but the food is mediocre. The lobster soup is surely interesting with the additional of the chocolate that you... More

We were taken to this restaurant by my cousins who live in Paris. We were in Paris for just one night as transited the city on our way to Italy. We were made welcome and given a circular table in the middle of the restaurant - we were a group of five. For starters my wife and I both had... More

You need to make reservation in advance for your lunch and dinner. Very busy small restaurant with about 10-12 tables. Soup is excellent as well as desert. A big wine selection as the restaurant has wine celler nearby the restaurant. Waiter can speak fair english but you may understand a simple french as there is no english menu.

Although the decor is a bit faded, the food and ambiance were first class, as was the welcome. Aimed primarily at locals rather than being a tourist trap, which made me appreciate it even more. Will certainly return when the opportunity arises.

Staying in Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique

Neighbourhood Profile
Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.
