We made a reservation on La Fourchette a few days before our trip. We were greeted and seated right away at a nice table next to the window. I speak some French but my husband doesn't, and they were very nice about bringing him an English menu but still speaking French with me. We did the prix fixe menu (entree,... More

After 63 visits to Paris! Oh yes, some servers have been wonderful, some okay, some not so much but this was a new type..RUDE! Had been here last year , walked in w/o reservation, had a good meal and experience and wrote very nice review. This time had reservation. Given first empty table up front which was not yet set... We visited La Marlotte in late August 2016. The restaurant is cozy, seems to host quite a few locals. First of all, we had to ask for water, bread and butter, it was obvious that the other tables were getting these things without request. I ordered 'giant prawns' and my husband the pork chop. After waiting for an hour, the... More

Our last night in Paris, looking for a sidewalk cafe close to our hotel. Found La Marlotte and couldn't have been happier. Sat outside on a lovely warm evening and everything was just right. The food was delicious, the waiters were friendly and helpful. No hurry or rush even though they were busy. There seemed to be a nice mix... More

Wonderful meal located just around the corner from our hotel - Le Saint Gregoire - sat outside and seated immediately. Arrived early enough before the crowds. Enjoyed lovely appetizers, wine and main meal. Service excellent; attentive staff. No complaints and would return without hesitation.

This is updated French cuisine that appeals to a primarily local crowd. The food and service are very good and an excellent value. Dishes are prepared with pride and with care, but are not "classic" French cuisine.

My wife and I dined at La Marlotte, just round the corner from our hotel. We were received courteously, with no smile from the senior person on duty, but some deadpan humour. My wife had leeks vinaigrette with a soft boiled egg, and I had herring fillets in oil with warm potato - very traditional bistrot starters, but both excellent.... More

Visited on our last night in Paris and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is compact and there is not a great deal of space between table however the food is fantastic and service stop on. We had a meat platter to start with - we chose one each - with hindsight one between us would be enough - followed... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
