Noisey, yes, but not with tourists, all French on my lunch trip (oddly all men over 30). All was enjoyed though. You can eat cheap, you can eat very well it's what you make it so I don't understand any gripes other reviewers had. I found the head waiter efficiently to the point, not chatty but certainly effective, classically so.... More

This was our first visit to this restaurant. We stumbled across it while looking for something off the beaten track for a decent place to have lunch. The bistrot is on the left bank, not too far from the tuilleries so perfect if you are visiting there or the Louvre or even the Champs Elysses. It's a real traditional parisian bistrot.... More

Typical and elegant bistrot! The food is excellent and the staff friendly and professional. A wide range of good wines. Every time I go to Paris I don't miss this pleasant restaurant. Booking required.

I was recommended to come here as this had a reputation of a great cuisine at affordable prices and was very typical french. First of all, there was no english version of the menu and, even though I understand a bit of french, the names of the dishes were completely mysterious for me. I was with another colleague who also... More

Wonderful meal and great wine recommendation from our waiter Eric. We had come the night before just for appetizers and enjoyed ourselves so much and we're so impressed by the quality of the food (vegetable soup, smoked salmon and cheese plate) that we wanted to come back for a full dinner. Eric recommended an excellent vegetable appetizer with pesto and... More

I was there for the second time and the experience exceeded expectations. The Dover sole deserved 5 stars, the wine incredible and the staff was out of a movie. Not to be missed on either your first or hundredth visit to the city. Pssst - don't tell anyone.

If your idea of a five star rating means that everything is perfect than you and I have a different meaning of a five star designation. My interpretation of that rating is that everything is what it's supposed to be--for restaurants, of course the food should be very good (great's not necessary), the service should be personal and attentive (not... I arrived with a colleague for dinner without prior booking after a walk on the seine close to Musée du Louvre, the staff didn't give us an awkward " where d'you think we can sit you without a booking ? " look. We got a table , for two, in the middle close to the kitchen and till area but... More

This restaurant is patronised by real parisians, and that makes the menu a bit more interesting than the usual tourist places. So I had a very good ris d'agneau (lamb sweetbread). Never tasted this before. My partner had sole meunière which was cut into fillet at our table, as tradition has it. Terrific desserts: a baba au rum, and a... More

Visited with work colleagues one evening for a pleasant meal. They did not have an English menu but the staff are able to translate for you. It is a bit of a walk from the touristy spots like the Champs Elysees but we enjoyed the walk across the bridge and along the river then past the Musee d'Orsay.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
