We had an excellent dinner, one starter, one main course, one bottle of wine and one desert for 2. All the meals were very good, service was very good too, but we paid 80 euros each and were seated next to entrance door on small bar table, so a bit expensive I think.

My best meal of the trip. Couldn't believe this amazing french dinner was cooked up by a team of Japanese chefs. Very impressive meal with a modern take on french bistro style food. Must go!

A must go for brilliant, creative food. First the problems: slow, odd service though it is always friendly and trying. The winelist is a minefield of natural wines that are not close to the quality of the cooking. (Why are Paris chefs so enamored by this limiting category?) Now the fantastic news, the cooking is off the charts, one dish... More

We are non-meat eaters and always tend to do some research before going to a restaurant in a foreign city. We saw many good reviews about the Clown Bar across different platforms and several people mentioned the delicious seafood and fish dishes along the other meaty offerings. So we went! And surprise surprise we sat down and saw that we... More

My daughter and I came for lunch on Sunday - we took the last booking so I would advise booking well in advance. I can't wait to go back. Staff were very welcoming and spoke great English. We ordered a starter to share (deep fried red mullet) which was melt-in-the mouth gorgeous - the batter was made with squid ink.... More

Made reservations for Saturday night and realized it would be busy. We were seated on the terrace and served our wine and first course in reasonable time. Main course arrived (duck and foie gras pie--delish), and we took our time enjoying it and finishing the wine. No service staff came out for at least 20 minutes. We watched as one... More

This was our second time at Clown Bar. Ten years ago we visited when it was still run by the last owner. We had a great time eating classic bistro food and chatting with the owner. Now we have new, young owners and the food is brilliant. The pigeon and foie gras pie should go down in gastronomic history. The... More

I read the review in the NY Times and immediately booked The Clown Bar. When we arrived at 730, they were already out of the beef special, which is what our two 18 year-old daughters wanted, as we saw it being served and it looked delicious. I tried to talk to the Japanese chef, but he knew no English. The... More

We had heard from our hotel concierge that this was a popular reservation and difficult to get, but he came through for us. The place itself was small, more like a bar than a restaurant with a dining room. Tables were close and cozy, but the ambience/vibe was bustling and pleasant. The food was quite good, and generally satisfying. I... More
