Sublime flavors. Had the pork with stewed lentils and the cod with spring vegetables. Lovely server helped us with the menu. Go early to avoid the crowd 7:30 on.

I know this is a top rated restaurant, but we didn't have a good experience. First was the 30+ minute wait for a table at 2pm due to slow service. Then the curt behavior of the waiters, lack of attention, water, bread or anything until I flagged someone down. No one could be bothered to help explain the menu to... More

Have been meaning to visit this restaurant many times over our last few visits to Paris and finally got round to it. Suffice to say we had a super experience and easily had the best Tuna Steak ever! There were salads eaten by the 2 at the table which were really good but way too much lettuce. Way too much.... More

The owner of Le Comptoir stopped us after we left the catacombs and encouraged us to go down the street and try his restaurant. He was engaging, interesting and funny. So we listened and were glad we did! They accommodated our party of 8 easily and the service, food and decor were all fabulous. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the... More

A perfect place to sit down for lunch outside when the sun is out and you love to sit and observe people passing by. A busy corner in the Saint Germain area. Busy and noisy, that needs to be said. But that's OK if you like to watch people. The food was very good too, but it took a LOOONG... More

This is everything I think what a French bistro would be like: amazing cuisine, nice atmosphere, sitting at little round table people watching (and being watched). Although the menu is only in French as expected, but we didn't struggle because our waiter was friendly, spoke good English, and gave great recommendations. Everything we ordered was delicious: escagot, pigeon foie gras... More

We have dined here multiple times, and each time is guaranteed greatness. The food is all authentic French cuisine, fresh and delicious. I recommend the Eggs Mayonaise, the steak, and the Pot de Creme dessert.

What a great restaurant. Le Comptoir perfectly describes what a french restaurant should be; fantastic food, small, and great service. If visiting make sure to visit this delightful restaurant. Very well known and probably one of the best for paté in Paris. Just one advise: make a reservation otherwise you may have to wait in line for a long time.... More

Incredible bistro, seasonal menu changes daily, great service, good house wine, quite small & crowded but worth the effort! No reservations unless you stay at the hotel (worth it).

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
