I have eaten here three times on my trip. Very close to my hotel. I tried the onion soup, the steak frites, tarte tartin and hot chocolate. All were good, nothing outstanding but tasty. Pleasant waiter. We joked about me practicing my French and he practicing his English.

My husband would give it a four. While a favorite of his, especially for its homemade dishes and especially soupe a l'oignon--good indeed and one of the best in Paris--I have found some of their other dishes like blanquette de veau to lack flair (a bit bland without the signature lemon zest at the end). Also, the last time we... More

I came here because of the decent reviews. Sure enough, the food was ok, if a little underwhelming. However, the service was great, location was good too.

Me and my girlfriend, were looking for somewhere to have breakfast and looked this up on trip advisor. I wanted to try "Croque Madame" which I saw on TripAdvisor that they were being recommended for. They didn't serve that at 11 am when we arrived (only from 12), so we each had a coffee and some pastry. There were severe... More

Au Petitit Suisse is a traditional style cafe near the Sorbonne. The French language flows fluently here, the coffee is good and strong and the selection of pastosseries 'maison' are par excellence. What I really love about Petit Suisse is its rustic rendition of Croque Madame. Within Paris, it seems no two Croque Madames are alike. The consistency (particularly the... More

Walking in the Luxembourg Gardens, we crossed the street for lunch in this traditional bistro, providing beautiful décor, delicious food, and a relaxed environment for great people-watching.

Stopped here on multiple occasions due to the fact that it was open most of the day. Had croquette madame each time which was quite tasty.

Had a croque-Monsieur and croque-Madame. They were pretty good and reasonably priced. Nice service and close to the park. Average food but if you're in the area and don't want to spend too much, this might be the place.

This small, classic bistro is directly across the street from the Luxembourg Gardens and a must visit spot for lunch after your stroll through the grounds. The staff was incredibly friendly and spoke both French and English. There is indoor and outdoor (sidewalk) seating. My fiancee and I went there three times for lunch on our second visit to Paris... We were left quite disappointed by both the food and the service. Some classic brasserie food were a real letdown, such as the close-to-terrible onion soup, which had raw onions in it and was more akin to some high-msg off-the-shelf stock rather than a proper soup. The tuna steak, although arguably not typical brasserie food, was literally raw, and even... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
