Cafe de la place is a old traditional place in Montparnasse. Expensive and nothing special. Only super thing is the crepes takeaway from Joseph. He got 5 stars for the best crepes in Paris. (Take care the crepes in the cafe are not from Joseph)

Surprised at the negative comments! We had a couple meals here, including breakfast. It is what I expect a Parisian cafe to be! Great coffee, enjoyed our meals and drinks. They even allowed us to try and speak our poor French, which few do.

The food is tasteless and poor quality. I The restaurant can only be described as a tourist trap. To top everything off, the waiter spilled a drink over me. We made it clear that we weren't happy with the food but the waiter simply didn't care. It is better to avoid as there are much better restaurants in Paris in... More

Near our rental apartment, we had an excellent meal and very attentive service. Beef had excellent flavor, vegetable risotto was tasty. All in all a great experience.

This is because of places like this that parisian restaurants/cafés have such a bad reputation. It gathers all the worst clichés: awful waiters (impossible to pay a 9,5€ bill with a credit card, had to go to an ATM a block away, and the waiter seemed to be enjoying it), crazy prices (5,4€ for a 25cL soda). Concerning the food,... More

The service was terrible, the waiter rude. What was I expecting it's Paris? The breakfast was overpriced and not great. I would avoid and go somewhere else.

Good good & wine. A pleasant & fun waitress who worked very hard. A nice location. Look for the daily specials.

Six of us stopped here to view the menu and a waitress came up to us to assist us in understanding the specials for the evening, etc. We walked around and checked out other restaurants in the area and returned here because of her willingness to help. Four of the group ordered the steak and fries and two of us... More

This is our favorite place to sit and have a café crème. It's a quiet intersection with mainly foot traffic, and weekends there used to be an art market that was fun to stroll down. Grand café crème comes with steamed milk in separate little creamer so you can add however much you like. I think this is the magic.... More

I am staying up the road in Rue Delambre and I stopped here in the rain to have afternoon snack. I had the hot chocolate which was amazing - you get a small jug of real melted chocolate and a larger jug of creamy milk. I also bad the creme brulee which was delicious and a big portion. They are... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighbourhood Profile
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
