My overall experience at this place was average. Prices are moderate. Restaurant is compact and you need to make a prior booking else you might need to wait outside. The service is also average and waiter do not speak English. Main course food is quite OK. Salads are good and refreshing. Butttt... the desserts are really terrible! We ordered a... More

A very good Thai address in Paris. The restaurant is small and not very nice but the food is really delicious, worth it to book your table!

You can have a prior booking but you may still have to wait outside. Its a very small place and compact place, when you try to sit not disturbing others, the waiter will remind you 10 times to be careful of the glasses around. If he is not done, he will again arrange your glasses explaining that you got to... More

Sukhothai is a cosy, and quite quaint Thai restaurant, not far from Place d'Italie. The food is plentiful and tasty - when we visited I had a 'salad fruit de mer' for starters, followed by 'crevettes with peppers', and had no room for desert - and the main course of crevettes was absolutely great, coming as it did with plenty... The room is small and cramped, the food we had is memorable only if you like large doses of flavour enhancers, the texture of a chicken was horrible - the only good thing was a green papaya salad (one of the few vegetarian dishes on the menu, and even that came with a non vegetarian fritter). Service varied from acceptable... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. Once seated, we realized the menu was only in French and Thai. We were able to decide what we wanted, so when the waiter came we pointed to what we wanted to order. He then snatched the menus away and had the French couple next... More

You'll never find a better thai restaurant in Paris. Very small place so reservation is compulsory. One of my favorite course is the one with chicken with grilled cashew nut.

Having a sudden urge for Thai food during a recent stay in Paris, we were very pleased to find this restaurant almost on our doorstep. We went on a Friday night and the restaurant was packed, we didn't have reservations but they squeezed us in. The staff speak English and are friendly and helpful. The food was utterly divine and... We went to this restaurant since the reviews seems good but we never were that disappointed by a restaurant : we went sick after (all of us), service is terrible just to name a few. One advice: do not even try to eat at this place, we will save money and a nice throw up....

Staying in Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique

Neighbourhood Profile
Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.
