The stereotype of cold and indifferent French people is certainly shattered by the good people on the rue Mouffetard -- everywhere we went the welcome was warm, genuine, friendly, and personal, not at all distant. And Nadine was no different -- exuberant and energetic even fairly late in the evening, she seated us in the window where half the world... More

Excellent food. We entered just as lunch was ending and the owner was a bit 'off' with us to begin with. However, the food was good and the meat of excellent quality and the owner warmed up!

Dinner was a really good value. We had a duck dish and an entrecote with chimichurri. Owner is the chef, he is very passionate about his business and wants you to eat all his food, just like your mom. 😄😋

We walked by Latin quarter to this gem. It is like a family owned restaurant. We ordered a pre fixed dinner of €27.50 with one starter, one main dish and one dessert. The chef is the owner. He was very proud of his own cooking and reminded us that we must finish the food (like what my mom would tell... More

Chez Nadine was recommended to us by our bike tour guide. We were greeted warmly and provided a glass of sweet rose, chips and some wonderful bread. We enjoyed a beautiful bottle of Chateau Medoc that was reasonably priced. The menu was extensive. Our 14 yr old son who is not adventuresome with his food choice really enjoyed his roast... More

We strolled on rue Moufetard and saw the menu. My husband is a huge fan of Julia Childs and that's why we decided to give it a try. We had a wonderful bœuf bourgiñon and of course wine, dessert, etc. A surprise dinner at a reasonable price. Definitely a recommendation to try out!

We were wandering Rue Mouffetard in August of 2013 when we came upon this place. The gentleman was the waiter, cook, and owner. He made me some amazing steak au poivre and my husband some delicious cassoulet. When my husband asked about pate, he brought us that as well as some different kinds to try (on the house) for an... We were hungry; it looked okay; we were disappointed. Do not eat here. The food is not good. Keep walking.

As tourists for two weeks in Paris in May 2013 (so please ignore the "October 2013" date under "visited"), my husband and I became regulars at Chez Nadine (which was just down the street from our apartment rental). This restaurant makes me want to move to Paris permanently, and eat at Chez Nadine every night. The owner Georges is simply... More

We arrived there at about 10pm, and we all got a 19.50€ menu: entree + main dish (...be careful, the dessert is included only at lunch). My salad with hot goat cheese was quite good, and I also had a large dish of good beef cooked with red wine. At the end we were all quite satisfied, paying 28€ each... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
