If you're looking for a reliable choice pretty much any time of day on Rue Caulaincourt, or on the back side of the Butte, look no further. We've had breakfast and dinner here and couldn't be happier. Four stars and not five because it's not fine dining, but don't let that dissuade you. My wife loved her duck and I... More

We live in Montmartre for 6 weeks every year, so we have had the opportunity to enjoy many of the restaurants in this lovely part of Paris. Time and time again, we find ourselves sitting in this upbeat local dining spot. The reasons are simple. First, they have well prepared classic dishes alongside some very creative "non traditional" menu choices.... More

After visiting the Sacre Coeur we took a walk in the Montmartre surroundings and stumbled upon the nice café. Outside it's sunny and the place has not too much trafic. We enjoyed a great lunch in the sun watching people go by. Service was swift, prices moderate and the food was very tasty. If you like a bit of French... More

Popular with locals and visitors alike, our first visit to this typically Parisian bistro will not be our last. A warm & friendly greeting included an invitation to sit anywhere we liked. We chose an interior table by a window that looked out onto the outdoor dining terrace (& also a smoking area-as expected in France- and the main reason... More

Very charming place with nice atmosphere. Typical Paris style if I may say. We had daily menu with fish and beef tartare. Good food a bit oily. Average price, affordable.

This little restaurant in Montmartre is wonderful! The staff was friendly and took car of our every need. Their English was very good. Two of us had the veal, which was cooked exactly to our request and was very tasty. One had fresh scallops, still in the original shell, and again, excellent! The fourth had the squid and French onion... More

I have been to Cafe Francoeur several time for cocktails and dinner and always have enjoyed it (especially the cocktails!) however it was walking by today that motivated me to write this review. The standout moment was my toddler started getting sick just in front of the door coming back from another cafe that is supposedly "kid friendly" in the... More

This is the second time my husband and I have had a nice extended stay in Montmartre, and we always gravitate to Cafe Francoeur. Even though we haven't been here for a year, Ugo, the manager, remembered us! This place serves the Holy Grail of soupe gratinee l'oignion: the broth is almost gravy-like, and the top is crispy and cheesy... More

We had a great time here! Half price drinks were perfect. The best by far was the Creme Brûlée! The best I've had in Paris yet! Oh so delicious!

When you think about the quintessential Parisian experience at a cafe...this is it! We were spending our first night in Paris when we stumble on this gem near our AirbandB. This man was out front and struck up a conversation with us and the pups. He invited us and the pups in for desert...so happy he did! This place is... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
