I entered the Cafe' Brasserie L'Excelsior only for coffee on a cold blustery late winter afternoon. The coffee was good, but the Art Nouveau atmosphere was amazing. Nancy was once at the forefront of Art Nouveau, and this Brasserie is a dazzling relic of that movement.

We selected this place via TripAdvisor, we walked two times through the rain (watch out, there are 2 Poincare streets in Nancy), but it was definitely worthwile. The staff is dressed traditionally in black and white. The restaurant has a classic Parisian Brasserie feeling, the dinner is very good en the staff is efficient and friendly. The wines are perfect.... More

We'be been coming here for seven years and have watched its gradual decline but this year we were severely disappointed. They'be crammed in more tables so you have to eat elbow to elbow and consequently the ambience and service have suffered. On this occassion all the food was disappointing and the steaks inedible. Not what you expect given the prices.... More

I have been coming here for years but never seen the service at l'excelsior as bad as last Monday night. The place was not particularly busy and many tables were empty which is unusual. The drinks and food took ages to arrive and despite the pleasant nature of the staff they seemed uncertain as to what to do. Empty tables... More

The real French brasserie. The restaurant is an authentic 2nd empire style building. The place is really wonderful. One of the most beautiful I ever seen. Seafood are great, especially oysters from different part of France. You also have to taste the crayfish. It's fabulous. Champagne with a mirabelle of Lorraine as an aperitif. Wonderful card of wines. Enjoy the... More

We went for breakfast. Had 2 baguettes, coffee and juice. Breakfast was fine, but mostly went to see the interior decor.

This is my first review of l'Excelsior after probably 8 meals there: consistant quality, good service, good food. You will see on the picture the starter œuf mimosa avec chair de tourteau (fresh crab meat), and the desert crepe grand marnier. They also have beautiful seafood platters: highly recommended.

Brasserie Excelsior (now owned by Les Grandes Brasseries de l'Est) is one of the most beautiful brasseries we have ever seen. Upon arrival in Nancy we had a drink there - it’s almost opposite the railway station - and went back for breakfast another day. Each time we were overwhelmed and didn’t know where to look first. The facade (1911... More

Very good Brasserie. The staff is very nice and professional. You feel very welcome when you arrive at the restaurant. It is a real French Brasserie with good service, and very good quality. We had a menu from 49 euro starting with champaign. Starter trio of Foie Gras, Main choice af fish, or meat. The meat was tender and very... More

This restaurant looks amazing, you will feel like stepping into an impressionist painting. The food is good brasserie style, pricey but the location is worth it.
