Location is very nice and... that's all. Cakes are OK, but not worth that price. Espresso for 6 EUR widened our experience in how much one espresso could cost. Cappuccino (also almost 6 euro) was a cafe latte, but not high quality cappuccino (and you may expect it in that location for that price). Service again was just OK, you... More

This place has good pastries and is a very interesting historical place to visit but the service can be horribly pretentious which is the contrary to the rest of the north of France and Lille !!! I even wondered if I was in Paris for a moment!!! Rude people!!!

I'd been desperate to go here since i passed the 'vitrine' a couple of years ago. The cakes look too good to touch, and are just what you imagine when you think of fine french patisserie. The 'Merveilleux' is just that; my ideal sweet treat and would recommend it to anyone who loves chocolate. Loved the hot chocolate too! It... More

Just looking at the display window makes your taste buds to start to salivate. I wanted one of everything. The inside tea room is very nice and pretty. We order 4 desserts and they where very, very, very nice both visually and in flavor. Only unhappy part was my espresso. Well below average for such a nice place. The other... More

I had the Chef's choice for EUR 70 incl. wine. After ordering, I waited almost one hour for the meal to start. First 2 courses were fish, nicely presented, but not memoriable. I did enjoy the French white wines that accompanied the food. The main course was meat accompanied by Italian Chianti wine that tasted like plonk. Sweet selection of... More

We visited the 'salon de the' three times, for coffee and cakes. The restaurant looks very nice, the shops sell chocolates, teas and fantastic cakes. A romantic place without doubt, for couples. You have to pick your time, it can have people waiting to get in, it is that popular, a must place to discover!

My wife and I popped into the "Salon de the" for a drink and one of their exquisite cakes. They taste even better than they look!

On a weekday afternoon the elegant tearoom was quiet and filled with sunshine reflected in the beautiful mirrored interior. The Tartelette au Chocolat was a dream, the bitter chocolate mousse sandwiched between two crispy biscuits on a brownie type base and decorated with a 'wave' of chocolate, topped with gold leaf. There was a choclaterie and ice cream shop at... More

We visited this well-known patisserie/teahouse on Sunday afternoon. Obviously everyone else had the same idea, as we had to queue for ages to get in. The tea room is absolutely lovely, exquisitely decorated. The delicate fancy cakes and pastries were very enjoyable, accompanied by a nice pot of tea. Very classy although a bit pricey for what it is

Meert is a "must see" in Lille's Old District, as much for its sweet pleasures as for its Louis XVI decor. The Chief and his team suggest recipes combining perfectly the creative tradition of Meert and produce from the market, carefully selected daily.
