I liked everything about this restaurant. The food was fabulous, fresh, great flavour associations and perfectly executed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the surrounds beautiful. It was the perfect start to our stay in Bayeux
We were lucky enough to be able to dine at L'Angle Saint Laurent on the night of August 4th. (Much thanks to Hotel Tardif for getting us a reservation!) This was my favorite meal in Bayeux and one of the best we had in our...two weeks in France.
The food is exquisite and the menu thoughtfully designed with an eye to the freshest ingredient and the dietary needs of patrons. We have a vegan in our family, and in many places, you have to specially ask if anything can be done for a vegan. At L'Angle Saint Laurent, there were clearly marked dishes for both vegans and gluten-free customers, which makes all guests know they are welcome.
I chose to order vegan selections for my starter and my main course, starting with a salad containing very fresh seasonal produce, and then continuing with "Palets de Pois Chiches de Normandie, Mousseline d'Aubergine, Riz Saute et Rouge Tomate-Ail Doux." This was a delightful combination of flavors, the crisp palets and the creamy mousseline d'aubergine working together beautifully to show what great vegetable dishes can do. My husband had a salmon starter and a beef with a creamy pepper sauce main dish and was equally delighted, declaring the steak "the best beef I've had in France." We both chose strawberry based desserts. I had "Dome Leger Caramel/Framboise with Sorbet Framboise," and my husband had a bowl of strawberries. My dessert was beautifully and artistically plated.
When I look at today's menu for L'Angle Saint Laurent from back in the United States, I see that the main and the dessert I had are no longer on the menu, even though only half a month has gone by. I think this speaks to the restaurant's commitment to serving the freshest, most seasonal ingredients.
The meal was perfectly paced and the dining room nicely airy.
I highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Normandy. It is a treat!More
Had a wonderful lunch here...charming seating outside under an awning (for great people watching up/down the cobblestone street), with a witty/fun staff and excellent dishes. We ate at several nice places, and when you state that this is better than La Rapiere (by a nudge),...that's saying something. :)More
For the record, we are foodies, finding and trying out restaurants is a hobby.
We were travelling in Normandy for a week and happened to be near Bayeux. Checking out the viamichelin website we decided to book at L'angle Saint Laurent for dinner and BOY...!! we were NOT disappointed.
From start to finish this was a wonderful experience.
The welcome was very friendly and we felt right at ease. The interior is warm and stylish, but not stiff.
The seating arrangements were covid-proof, something we didn't always see at other restaurants on our trip. It shows you respect your guests, thank you.
We went for the Gourmet Menu and had the excellent croustade de moules de Bricqueville as starter.
For mains we had the Pavé de barbue au grill and Médaillon de filet de veau, both with the addition of truffle. We switched halfway so we could both experience each dish... it was near perfection. All the ingredients came together in harmony and were accompanied by some of the best sauces I've eaten in years (the kind were you eat more bread than you should because you use it to make sure you don't use your fingers to clean the plate ;-)
We opted for a dessert that was not part of the Gourmet Menu, poire pochée with vanilla ice cream, strawberry melba and almonds... aaaaahh !!
This restaurant became the reference for all the other restaurants we ate at during our trip and none of them came even close (Le Bréard in Honfleur wasn't too bad either, but L'angle remained lonely at the top).
They urgently deserve a first michelin star and I hope to come back to Normandy soon and eat here again.
Keep up the good work !More
This small restaurant in Bayeux is the perfect place if you want a fine dining experience with kids. The very attentive and patient staff will offer a bit of flexibility if needed to accommodate children. The restaurant is also great for couples and an evening...with friends.
The meals in the kitchen of Sébastien Remy are well executed and the restaurant serves great local seafood. The desserts are spectacular. The honey ice-cream accompanying a chocolate dome was nothing short of delicious.
Caroline Remy and her colleagues are friendly, professional and always there when you need their help. We visited on a busy evening but the staff was very efficient.
If you're looking for a great meal in an uncomplicated setting you should call ahead and reserve a table. The restaurant does not have many tables.More
Visited on a chilly rainy evening during our visit to Bayeux and Normandy. L'Angle was just a few streets from our hotel and provided a beautiful evening of good hut also atmosphere of the Normandy region.
The highlights of the meal were both the food...and meeting the husband & wife owners. On the food side the veal was so tender and beautifully prepared and presented. The chocolate dome for dessert was perfect. Because it wasn't busy we had the chance to meet the owners who were so pleased we had selected their restaurant that evening. Upscale good and service but with such a welcoming atmosphere. I'm sure in season reservations are hard to come by so we feel fortunate to have visited in March.More
This was a spectacular dining experience. If you visit Bayeux you’ll not regret eating here. Certainly, if you like eating superbly cooked and beautifully presented food. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, small but spacious with subtle lighting giving a delightful ambiance.
Front of house is...Caroline with husband Sebastián in the kitchen. Caroline is gracious and helpful, assisting us with our lousy spoken French.
The menu is small, the way I like it and the wine list varied. We enjoyed 3 courses with a lovely Languedoc red. I had the Foie Gras for starters and then Scallops my wife had the fish followed by the Pork. The food is beautifully plated by a person that obviously loves what he prepares.
We have no hesitation in recommending this fantastic restaurant. I rate it amongst the best I have ever enjoyed.More
Love this restaurant! The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is warm and the service is excellent. Me and my son (age 14) both enjoyed it very much. Make sure you let the staff pick your wine, you won’t regret it. We have to come back...for desserts some day, hopefully very soon.
We could not have had a better first meal in Bayeux! We were greeted by Caroline who paired our wine with each course. The veal and chocolate dome were outstanding. They were so kind and spoke wonderful English! Thank you for a great night
