Good restaurant with decent food, quick service, and reasonably priced menu. However, my steak became more like well done when I ordered it medium, still tasted good thou. Quite popular place too, it seems, so a reservation might be in order.

For me a visit to Aix en Provence is not complete without lunch or dinner at Brasserie Leopold. Good quality classic dishes, combined with a pleasant atmosphere and service that is always friendly make this one of my favourites.

We shared the tapas starter which was excellent. Our mains were the mushroom risotto and the sausages and sauerkraut Leopoldo. Both were also excellent. Beaujolais wine very pleasant and reasonably priced. Service was efficient, friendly and professional. We want a return visit.

I love the fresh and light patisserie in particular here. It is bright and great for people watching as one slowly enjoys light croissants, pain au chocolat and coffee before heading off to work.

Description
Welcome to the Brasserie Léopold, the restaurant of the Saint-Christophe hotel in the centre Aix-en-Provence, right near the old town, the Cours Mirabeau, shops, markets, the train station, museums and theatres. The Brasserie Léopold is an institution in Aix. It is famous for its friendly atmosphere and its wonderful Art Déco décor, which goes with the background 1930s jazz music. In this relaxed atmosphere, you can eat your meal in the vast restaurant itself, in the sunlit veranda surrounded by a large glasshouse, or if the weather is fine, out on the patio, to make the most of the warm, lively atmosphere of this part of Aix-en-Provence. The Brasserie Léopold, which has received the distinction "Maitre Restaurateur" welcomes you in the atmosphere of a large Parisian brasserie. Our Chef who has worked in famous restaurants and also under Escoffier, reinvents traditional cuisine, adding all his creativity and his passion for fine gastronomy. The chef offers little innovative dishes, full of interesting flavours, using only French seasonal produce, much of which is local. Everything is home made. Beef fillets with foie gras Rossini, grilled fish, "grand tradition" steak tartare (raw minced steak), sauteed calf kidneys with juniper berries... At the Brasserie Léopold, you can rediscover authentic dishes revisited with flair. The Brasserie Léopold also offers a choice of home made sauerkraut: sauerkraut with fish, sauerkraut royale, sauerkraut with knuckle of pork, duck preserve and sauteed foie gras... a wide choice for fans.
