All four of us are in agreement that this is poorest meal out we have had in Nice, so I am left very confused as to why this restaurant is so full and why people have written reasonably positive reviews? Has this restaurant just gone downhill rapidly?  €29 is not cheap for a set menu of brandade, lamb shank and... More

Marquis means scrubland as in the Mediterranean regions, especially Corsica. The owner is proud if his heritage and speaks passionately about his homeland. The menu is rustic and typifies the region. The food is good quality and rustic. The wines are terrific and again Corsican in origin. This was the first restaurant I was aware of at the time offering... More

Tried to book an other restaurant first -but they were already full. Asked them what other place they may recommend - so they named the LE MAQUIS. We had to wait a bit (you can not sit before 19:00!) -but it was worth. The service was quick and nice (remember: we were the first guest that evening - so the... More

We arrived first at the restaurant at 7pm and realised people in Nice usually eat a bit later. The food was lovely from starter to dessert with good portions and great flavours. There were mainly tourists apart from one table so I guess this address must be well known. It was recommended by a friend and we have to agree... More

We arranged an anniversary party with friends and family - perfect location with a separate room for us 16, very good service and menu- and good recommended wines. We will return again!

The restaurant is hidden in a dark and narrow alley in the middle of the old town, where are only another couple of restaurant and difficult to stumble on. Notwithstanding, the restaurant is pretty crowdy and popular, at least as I saw during my visit. The main reason of success, I presume, is the very profitable menu offered at 25,50... More

We visited here last night for the first time and it most certainly won't be our last. The restaurant itself is very nice and the staff were excellent - very attentive and friendly. Our French isn't brilliant but this wasn't an issue. I had the lamb shanks honey jus and potato puree which was delicious. My wife had the scallop... More

Just come here. Every course superb. Friendly staff and a gorgeous restaurant. This chef is a talent.. I recommend the beef for main and the soufflé for dessert was literally the best ever. Ever.

We stopped in to La Maquis on a Saturday evening in November with out reservations and were fortunate to get a table. The wait staff were friendly and attentive and tolerated our poor attempts at Francais with just enough of their rather good Anglais to get us through our meal. The meal selections were creative and well presented and the... More
