On a cold day in Lyon this was a great choice . Traditional lyonnaise food , done well.they helped us with the menu, and the chef came out for a chat. Gentleman next to us use to run a restaurant just down the road but said this was his favourite. Light Quenelle and tender Venison. Good pot of local wine.... More

I was back at the Poêlon d'or in January 2017 and my previous reviews are still holding up: it's a great place for enjoying lyon food! This time I tried the foie gras with artichoke, which was a surprising and delicious combination. I also had the half baked chocolate cake, also delicious if a bit overcooked to my taste. Of... À nice restaurant with specialties from Lyon and its region. People are nice and the quality and quantity of products are very good too.

The wine and potatoes "au gratin" were very good. The meat (beef) was of a good quality but tasteless. The dessert was ok. The waiter (seem to be the chief waiter on the 14th of January) made us feel anxious since the beggining of our dinner. It seemed like we just occupied a table and the sooner we eat the... More

One of the few certified "authentic" bouchons in Lyon. This is simple food done extremely well. It is a lot more basic than some of the other restaurants in town, but offers what people define as traditional Lyonnaise cuisine. Service was somewhat flippant and borderline surly, but I think that only adds to the charm. The price is right and... More

The people in there are extremely friendly. They don't speak fluent english but have tried their hardest to help us. I had the beef ribs (which was a special dish) and creme brûlée and it was so delicious. Highly recommend. The price is also reasonable for french cuisine.

Good ambience, great food and value for money. Restaurant serves Lyonnaise dishes. Would recommend and return again. Restaurant was busy so would suggest booking rather than risk walking in - especially at the weekend.

When I thought of a favorite bouchon to introduce a friend to Lyonnaise cuisine, this establishment was the natural choice. For starters I enjoyed the wonderful foie gras with artichoke heart and we shared a pot of very fresh Beaujolais nouveau. The pate was superb with the crusty bread. For main course, quenelle with crayfish sauce was absolutely perfect. By... More

I went to Le Poelon d'Or twice on my recent trip to Lyon, both because it was a block from my Airbnb, and because the food was excellent. The waitstaff is friendly, and it has a nice neighborhood ambience. The Salade Lyonnaise was outstanding; the duck confit and desserts were good but not exceptional. It's perhaps a bit pricey for... We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel staff. The restaurant serves traditional Lyonnaise fare. Had a shared entre of fois gras and artichoke which was sensational.Meals we chose were the special of Brest chicken in a morel sauce with rice and steak with potatoes gratin. Chocolate mousse finished off the meal. All courses were excellent and we were well... More
