Found this place with help from TripAdvisor and Google Maps (it's down an alleyway so you won't be able to spot from the street). Cozy and comfortable and great food with generous helpings. Our party had schnitzel/fried mushrooms/fried cheese and a delicious dessert. Even those who weren't normally beer drinkers fell for the dark beer with cola and shot of... More

We stopped in for a late lunch and we were warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. This place was completely underwater during the June 2013 floods, and now completely rebuilt. The food was fantastic, and used local ingredients where possible. We'll be back in sure.

This is a relatively affordable place to eat. I had a very tasty stuffed pork schnitzel with spaetzle. Interior not very interesting, we ate outside along the gasse. Since smoking is allowed everywhere, the air quality is a little better outside if not too cold.

I wanted to like this place because I had passed by the night before and what looked like the chef/owner was standing outside and greeted me in a friendly manner. He just looked like he knew a thing or two about cooking! The next day (today) I stopped in to check out the menu. It wasn't overly inspiring and there... More

You know when you are potentially in a good place when it appears a tourist hasn't been there for years! But not to worry, the waitress knows English and won't steer you wrong. Located in the artist area of Passau, a street up from the Danube, this restaurant will NOT disappoint! Grabbed a few business cards to share with Viking... More

Nice family owned place near heart of old towne. Owners onsite and very hospitable. Try the Passau Schnitzel stuffed with mushrooms, onions and cheese.

My boyfriend and I were hungry. And we saw this restaurant while visiting the city. The food was delicious and it was delivered in a timely fashion. Even the fact they only had one waitress and one chef. I highly recommend.

We had some free time for lunch on our own and were wandering around the cobblestone streets of Passau a few blocks from the Danube. Some of our fellow passengers were already seated in Zum Grunen Baum and invited us to join us. We were so glad we did. Home style German cooking, pork, dumplings and sauerkraut, very familiar to... We really enjoyed the cuisine and the friendly waiter/barkeep at this authentic restaurant...in business since the 1700's. We were the only Americans(English speakers) in there today and while we tried with "Google Translate", a big part of the fun was working with him to order the fantastic meal (and bier(s) that we enjoyed!).

Only ate what was recommended by the friendly German waiter and it was awesome. Great Spare ribs and a super nice Obstknödeln
