This is the best most classic example of German food I've seen. The dumpling soup is home made, the bratwurst is the small very tasty variety and the sourkaurt is amazing -especially with the hot sweet mustard. Be prepared to sit at any table and met the locals.

We attempted to stop in for a dampfnudel and we're turned away because we did not have a reservation. The restaurant does not offer any food to go. The food looked great but reservations are highly recommended.

Recommended by our guide earlier in the day, we arrived for a late afternoon treat. Friendly staff in one of Regensburg's towers that use to be a prayer Chapel for the daughter of a wealthy merchant. We ordered their famous sweet dumpling not knowing what to expect...heaven in a bowl!! Drowning in a creamy vanilla sauce, the dumpling was unbelievable!... More

Enter "Beim Dampfnudeln Uli" and you'd think this was the Bavarian version of a diner. From it's really retro coffee maker, counter c/w swivelling stools and "paraphernalia" not to mention the apron clad gentleman grilling sausages and other delectable goodies over the grill ! We were both seeking refuge from the cool day and from the kind advice of our... More

Very little place. You must be lucky to get a table. You must be on time since it is open only from 10:30 to 17:00. Did I mentioned that it is closed Sundays and Mondays? So you must be very lucky to try Dampfnudeln with hot vanilla souse. But it is so good! We were just after breakfast, so we... More

I was told by locals that this place is "famous" in Regensburg for the dampfnudel served here. I can only describe it as a somewhat light pastry served with a syrupy sauce. It is not overly sweet, just delicious. Give it a try! The restaurant itself is not large but has an inviting, unpretentious atmosphere.

You must have a couple dampfnudelen when you visit Regensburg. Uli still runs it. Get there before noon to get a seat. Other food is also served.

We found the quaint little restaurant while touring Regensburg last minute. We were turned away because we did not have a restaurant and the chef refused to allow for take away. Would have loved to try a Dampfnudel so we'll have to visit again another time.

Dampfnudel is the most popular sweets in this cafe. I went here in weekday but it was crowded. The Dampfnudel tastes good. Especially, vanilla cream is very creamy. The outside of the cake is crispy and the inside is fluffy. It is very matched combination of cake and cream. Staffs were kind. She asked me that I want to eat... More

We had the steamed buns "dampfnudeln" with custard on our second afternoon after a lot of cobble-walking. Very restorative and the small room has a timeless feel, not least because it props up a very historic building. Seating is period piece and therefore not meant for comfort, but it's not a lingering place, anyhow. Lots of pictures of the proud... More
