It is a very busy small restaurant, so reservations are recommended. We came for a couple of beers and dessert after the Nightwatchman tour. The food was delicious!

We could not get table during our stay. But I'll rate the restaurant anyway just because it looked like a really nice place and even we didn't have reservation they were very polite and said they were sorry not being able to seat us this evening.

We were visiting the wonderful walled city of Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber and found this little restaurant on one of the back roads. We decided to give it a chance even though the name 'To Hell' seemed a bit over the top. We were pleasantly surprised. The inside of the restaurant was small and cozy like most of the restaurants... We had been with the Nightwatchman a number of years ago and had to go back for old time's sake. We grabbed a table outside and then waited 30 minutes for someone to take our order. Service was horrible. Fortunately the beer was cold and tasty and we love the place. Maybe just got them on a change of shifts... More

😀yes "the hell" is the name of this place. Take the night tour and the night watch will tell you why is it called that. We are here because it was the only place open after 9:00PM. We stayed at romantic hotel but by the time tour has ended our hotels restaurant closed so we walked back there. Food was... More

Like most places we encountered in Rothenburg, the service was outstanding. The restaurant is fairly small and will be crowded late into the evening - especially after the Nightwatchman tour concludes (as the tour guide will advertise this place). The food was very good.

We walked into this restaurant not having a booking, and the lovely host found us (2 adults and a young child) a table without an issue. It had a 'couples restaurant' feel, but there was another group there so we felt comfortable enough to stay with our child. The food was incredible, we had the goulash and the seafood risotto... This quaint restaurant in an old historic house completely complimented our visit to the perfect little typical German town. It's not the fanciest food you'll ever try or a very trendy restaurant but the service was attentive and the hearty food was delicious. I advise you ask the servers for recommendations... we tried a wild garlic soup with salmon that... More

The strengths this place are the friendliness of the service and the generosity of the portions. Prices are reasonable. The quality of the food was sound; my cold collation included some cheese and sausage that was almost bland enough to qualify as tasteless. My partner's pork ribs were perfectly satisfactory without being anything you would write home about. Wines are... More

Sure, it's a quant place. And yes, the staff is very accommodating and friendly. But to be honest, the food was nothing all that special. The credit card thing was a shame really. We would have ordered more if we had more cash on us. You're only hurting yourself, Zur Holl, by avoiding the Information age.
