I was recommended by the concierge at my hotel; Westin Grand in Berlin and had reserved a table for two at 19.00. In reading the reviews on the internet they were both positive and critical. I thought I would give it a chance.....? Upon arriving, it seemed that the restaurant was understaffed as they had one young waitress was serving... More

The interior of this restaurant is beautiful, it is small and filled with various interesting pictures, ornaments and a beautiful coo-coo clock. We first thought this place was a wine bar as the menu is dominated with pages, upon pages of wine. However, we ordered the platter for 2 and the food we received was outstanding. The selection of food... More

Booked dinner via email for four of us . Unsure of what to expect. The staff and owners were excellent, friendly and welcoming, the food was fresh and outstanding to taste. Great wine choices recommended for us . Way too much to finish between us all. Great atmosphere and would visit again if we go back. Thank you for our... More

On our first evening in Berlin we agreed we simply wanted wine and cheese. Obviously. Having enjoyed the Christmas market at Gendarmenmarkt we looked at the map and saw this place and thought we'd try it. 4 hours later when we emerged, my were we delighted with our decision. This restaurant/bar/wine shop is just lovely. The staff we delightful and... More

This place is just perfect for a relaxing night out with friends, family or even for a date. It felt as if we had left Berlin and escaped to a Mediterranean cottage. The atmosphere is very cosy, candlelight and comfy seating. We tried a couple of red wines a cheese plate and fresh olives ... it was very delicious.

This convivial bistro is an oasis of vines, vibes and wines on an other wise quiet street, and is well worth leaving the tourist track for. Absolutely brilliant platters with a wide range of fresh and dried meats, and unusual and tasty vegetables.

We stayed at the nearby kempinski hotel and there aren't many restaurants in this part of town. We found this excellent little place on our last night in Berlin. The menu allowed us to taste some traditional German food with a lighter touch. It's a super little wine bar serving a range of light bites and mains. There are seats... More

We stumbled across Weingalerie and Cafe No while walking around Berlin, and wow simply wow, we stopped for a quick glass of wine and a beer, which turned into a second with some cheese, fruit and bread, then another beer, and a 2nd visit the next day. One of the most relaxing and chilled places in Berlin with excellent service,... More

I stumbled onto this place on my last night with my husband in Berlin and I wish we had known about it sooner! We had already eaten dinner and were just looking for some wine and dessert and this was the perfect place. He got the chocolate cake and I had the creme brûlée with lemon sorbet, both were heavenly... More

I found this Cafe through online searches of good cafes and Cafe No did not disappoint. The location is close but also enough distance away from being in the throws of the tourist trap restaurants. I loved the charm and atmosphere here. The first time I came I was just looking for a nightcap drink and dessert and the chocolate... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
