We payed the bill to the waiter and she would not pay back the difference. She said, that it was her tips, which we did not think, that she deserved. I was not up to her to decide the size of the tips. This was our only disappointing experience with a restaurant during our holiday in the fantastic city Berlin.

Leaving the same review I left on Yelp because it's still bothering me. Decided to try it because it was close and it made a top list on Thrillist website. Don't. The schnitzel was salty and tough and the server was ridiculously impatient. Wasted a meal on our four-day trip. Boo. Should've been alerted when they had the musician guy... More

This is an excellent neighborhood restaurant attached to Marheineke Markthalle. Simple decor, with oak tables and candlelight, provide a very comfortable setting for excellent food with weekly specials. Highly recommended.

This restaurant has one of the best breakfasts on offer in Kreuzberg. Seating is available outside in the small square next to the park. A very lively and picturesque place. Breakfast for two set us back 28 Euros. Included is breakfast platter for two (excellent offer that could feed four people!) + two coffees and a juice. Interior of the... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
