Look through my 100+ reviews and you'll see I try to find the positives because most places want to give you a good experience. But this might be a struggle. Firstly, we didn't have luck on our side. The place was dominated by three v large parties taking over the three large dining rooms that this restaurant has. One room... More

You have to search for it, but it's worth the work. Nice restaurant, excellent wine card and romantic location. Food is German. If you you like it or not, it depends on you preferences. It's next to some landmarks, so if you need a break, go for it.

You could easily walk past this place , but don't it is well worth discovering this place. I had the lunch menu with three friends and we had great service and a private booth to eat in. The food was great and very reasonably priced €14 for a three course meal with coffee !!!

Decided to have a dinner in Habel as it seemed quiet a well decorated. Menu looked promising having several unusual solutions, like balsamic ice or orange foam with pumpkin soup. We ordered: Pumpkin soups, goat cheese salad, mozzarella, veggie burger, chicken steak, beefsteak and all desserts they have except wine ice. Also teas and beer. I wasn't much hungry, of... More

The food was terrible, although the service was good. Gordon Ramsay would have had a fit about the salt, there was so much in the soup that I was mining it from the bowls. The dessert was ok. The nail in the coffin was no wifi -- that is simply unacceptable.

Well, you are going here for the Dome not the food, aren't you. The security and phaff to get in mean this is never going to be a food-only destination, it's for tourists. But actually the Black Forest gateau is really, really good, saving it from being a tourist trap disappointment. And prices are reasonable for this end of town,... More

Breakfast for guests at next door Kunst Hotel Luise - good value for money. We went three consecutive mornings - first two were top rate; the third was poor as different staff on duty who were inattentive by comparison with the man in charge the first two days, and for whom nothing was too much trouble.

I had dinner here after the Opera (around 22:00) and it was a very pleasant experience. service was friendly and charming, the menu inviting. inspite of a table of slightly raucous youngsters the ambience was good and furnishing tasteful. I had the german ravioli (maultaschen) in broth and found them excellent. salad as a starter was plenty and fresh, my... More

In restaurant cost control, one of the key ideas is to use the same ingredients in a variety of ways to make different dishes. As a first in my experience, Habel was able to use the exact same stock with carrots and potatoes in a soup, as broth for Maultaschen (the raviolis from Southern Germany) and Tafelspitz (the boiled beef... Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
