Came in for a quick dinner and ended up staying all evening. Great atmosphere in the dining room, our waitress was superb. The food was excellent, we'll cooked and tasty. Worth a visit.

We were looking for German food while visiting Berlin for a few days. There are plenty of restaurants from all sort of cultures, but we wanted German. This restaurant provided that. The food was served quickly by a very friendly, helpful waiter (who spoke to us in English very competently). We had Berliner Platter - a plate full of sausages,... More

We were in Berlin for 3 days and came to this place every day after our first visit. The prices are good and the food is amazing. Typical German cuisine at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is relaxed but attentive. After trying many variations of currywurst this was the best in Berlin by far! Out waitress Heike remembered us and... More

A staff member (the main person serving at the restaurant) here was obviously ill - she had a deep hacking cough, which we first heard after we sat down and ordered. What was really awful was the hygiene - I watched her regularly cough into her hands, blow her nose with a tissue, and there was no washing of the... More

I took a leg pork with potatoes, sour crauts and red crauts. The leg pork was only boiled and was terrible, impossible to eat. Was only jelly fat and the meat wasn't cooked enought. The potatoes were already half freezed. The crauts were clearly from discount, they weren't reworked. In the end quite expensive. I don't recommend this place. If... More

Came here for a birthday dinner for my friend on a Saturday night. We'd walked around Alexanderplatz and a bit further down. Found this place that looked authentic and the menu outside looked like it had a large selection. It was busy and we were given a small table for two in what felt like a bit of a claustrophobic... What a find in the neighborhood! This is true German style with a brilliant cook and outstanding service. I had the Rouladen and it was cooked to perfection with rot kohl and potatoes on the side and two large pilsners for 23 Euros. I brought a book and enjoyed the evening and true Gemütlichkeit of a quiet and thoroughly German... More

Had a lovely couple of beers here one afternoon. The staff are really welcoming and helpful. We really felt comfortable and at ease. So much so that we returned for dinner the next evening - and were not let down. Will definitely return again!

Nice cozy restaurant serving German food on a fair price. Service isn't great but well that's not a surprise anymore after a few days in Europe. It is a 5 min walk from Novotel Hotel Mitte. Lots of other options around the corner too.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
