The food was top quality and the menu prices are not ridiculously expensive. Good selection of wines with the food. The service was professional. The minus are related to the ambience. The restaurant would benefit from some ambient music. It is too silent. The paintings on the wall are horrid.

I was a little in doubt; 39€ for a 3-course menu; salmon, duck, creme brulée, sounds a little expensive for something so ordinairy, but because of the good reviews we went there. It turned out to be classic german with a modern twist, a very nice setting, super hospitality, you feel at home very fast, good service, top quality ingredients... More

Good room and helpful staff. Taking traditional foods to new heights. Best overall single dish we had in Berlin was the local duck with cabbage and apples.

By the river, close to the city center, but yet a feel of secluded area. Great staff, great room and even greater food. The "Branderburger Bauernente" was recommended, and we have recommended it further. This is SOOOO worth the visit!

I was surprised that we had such a nice meal with great service (drinks, appetizer, 2 entrees, dessert) for less than 100 Euro. We made a reservation online (Berlin uses Open Table) for a Thursday evening, but I think we may have been able to walk right in, perhaps because it's located outside of the main tourist areas. This is... More

Our daughter invited us for dinner here. It was the best dining experience during this stay in Berlin. Service was terrific, food--the best. We were there with young children (well-behaved, but still children) and the staff were lovely with them, and thoughtful. There's nothing but accolades for this gem.

Simply excellent - if you want to spend a perfect dinner night out with typical German cuisine on an excellent level, this hideaway is the right place to go. You would not expect a house like this in Kreuzberg, where concrete is dominant - it is a 18th century fully restored former customs building, that was - in ancient times... More

Came here as a group in the winter. Its tucked away down a street by the river and one had to ring the bell to gain entry. Only a few choices on the menu - not sure if this is because we were a group, but each was excellent. Very pleasant staff and relaxed service. Don't know how much it... More

Facility is about basics and food is OK, service was excellent. Being a large group, the small crew did a great job. Infrastructure in general is pretty standard and compared to other similar features it really flies below. At a neighborhood apart from the action, makes this place kind a boring

Nice place, nice service. Probably even better in good weather, as the grounds look interesting. But damn, that duck was great. Really.

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
