Best brewery in town! We had the meatballs and the crispy pork knuckle and it was delicious. Also the apple strudel was the best we had during our stay in Berlin. Very kind staff and friendly atmosphere. And off course, the beers were original and really tasty!

We had a great meal here on our second night. The food seemed authentically German and we thought there was a really good atmosphere. It was very busy but the service was good and the food was tasty.

Food is decent but 1840 around the corner was better and cheaper. Pils and Original were worth the trip...some of the best beer in Berlin. Service and atmosphere were great.

Ate here with my family, we had a nice time. The place was packed, but we got the last seats, and were served quickly. I had the pork knuckle and I ate until my stomach almost burst. The vegetarian dishes my girlfriend and kid had, werent that special though. The beer was very good. We`ll be back, we just hope... More

Popped in for dinner whilst staying nearby. Well-connected by the tram system. Closest station is Hackescher Markt. Hidden away under a viaduct, this place is huge! Such a huge range of beers on offer, as well as lots of traditional German food and other more American dishes. I went for the Berliner Meatballs and wasn't disappointed! Boyfriend had the Lemke... We thought we'd try having a meal here as they appeared to serve traditional German food and beer. Upon entering the restaurant no one met us or greeted us, we had to ask where we could sit. It then took about 10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table. After ordering I noticed a specials board and asked... More

We visited Brauhaus Lemke on a cold day after a visit to the Charlottenburg palace and gardens. It is just across the road and handy for the bus to the airport and Mitte. We shared a dessert for 2 called Kaiserschmarn. It is a mixture of pancakes, raisins, cherries and cream and was filling and delicious. My husband tried the... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
