This is a place that you would walk by if you would not know how good it was. We had breakfast here one day. A lot ofthings to choose from, I had the 'cheesy breakfast' with all kinds of cheese, was lovely! My boyfriend had eggs benedict, also really good'. The next day we came back for coffee and cake,... I've been there multiple times as I live in the neighbourhood. I bring friends from all over the world here cos it's super cozy and Hilde has that typical Berlin Café/Restaurant atmosphere. I also like the interior, which reminds me of a living room. Favorite place to sit is just next to the entrance on the window bench. The service... More

We were staying in the area and happened upon Hilde for breakfast. Cafe has a really lovely atmosphere, feeling relaxed and cosy. On their breakfast menu they seem to specialise in different takes on eggs benedict. We each ordered a different type, named after a different family member (Mr B, Mrs B, Uncle B etc) and none of us were... More

We stayed near this restaurant on our recent trip to Berlin. We ended up having 3 meals there, each delicious and reasonably priced. The menu is very vegetarian friendly, the staff friendly and helpful and the ambience relaxed. The coffee is also great and coming from Seattle, we are a bit fussy. Overall we found the Prenzlauer Berg area charming... More

Just under fourty euros we were totally stuffed. We really enjoyed the ambiance ot Hilde time machine. You could almost see people secretly planning for escape out of... More

Sweet little cafe with great atmosphere and amazing breakfast choices. Food good quality and friendly service. Portions are large so you will not need lunch. We returned again for coffee and were not disappointed.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
