Basic menu however the veal cheek special served with mash and sauerkraut was a well received winter warmer meal, especially after a day of sight seeing in 2degrees!

Portions are big and tasty here. Great little spot of old-Berlin in a tradiotnal Kneiper setting. Great Rouladen and Eisbein..nice and crispy. Good beer selection. Only con: no substitutions. I wanted Bratkartoffeln but the dish only came with fries.

Our hotel (Holiday Inn express West) recommended us this restaurant. And they were absolutely right! If you want to try a typical German or Berlin cuisine in a relaxed (home-like) atmosphere THIS is the place to go. We have 2 young children (4/6) who enjoyed the broccoli which was served.... if this does not convince you enough, the host and... More

Came across this restaurant on a side street off Kurfurstenstrasse walking back to hotel. Took a chance and were not disappointed. Menu all in German but the owner did his best to explain which we eventually understood and made our orders. Food was very tasty and the beer was good. Took two attempts to get the right wine.Service was efficient... More

I loved this place as soon as we walked in, as mobile phones, lap tops and such intrusive paraphernalia of the modern world are banned. This forces people to talk to each other. Fantastic!! The beer was good, the food was very pleasant, in large quantities, and traditional local fare. It was pleasantly decorated, and the service was good. I... More

In a city that is full of restaurants serving every kind of cuisine it was a real joy to find somewhere serving authentic German food. It is a small restaurant seating, I would say, 40 maximum but it's well worth seeking out - it's about 3 minutes walk from Wittenburgplatz U-bahn station. Forget fine dining, this is wholesome traditional food,... More

This small place had delicious food in a cozy environment. The tomato soup (comes with bread) was the best I had in Germany and the salad I ordered for an entree was great - tons of different vegetables, a nice side dressing and good portion size. Price was 23.40 euros for starter soup, entree salad and two glasses of wine.

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and were really blown away by the quality of the food and drink, the atmosphere and the friendly and quick service. We got chatting to the owners and they told us a bit about the place, e.g. that all the lamps have a cool backstory. We enjoyed our visit so... More

I visited this restaurant with my collegue when we were visiting Hotel Palace in Berlin for training. It was really hard to find any restaurant in that area, but we were lucky to find Belinchen. We choose Daily Special and it was amazing. Really tasty. Beer good too. One bad thing is that they don't accept credit cards.

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
