Whenever I come to Germany I always eat dinner at a greek restaurant at least one evening. First time at Taverna Athene. Probably not going back on my next visit, there are better greek restaurants in Berlin. As usual I had a "gyros teller". The meat contained a lot of fat and was reallly not that good. The ambience was... More

We shared the Platter Diomira for 2 persons as a family of 4 (with an additional Octopus starter) and it was heaps of quality food for us all. Attentive service and reasonable service made for a pleasant evening.

We very much enjoyed this Greek food. There were lots of choices on the menu. The pita bread was delicious. Appreciated the waiter helping not to order too much food. Liked their desserts too.

Great food, delicious grilled feta cheese and pita bread combined with best octopus I've ever eaten - a must-visit place in Berlin

We read nice reviews about this place. We were dissappointed. There was no mousaka left. Tziziki was good. Service was poor. The bill was incorrect, as was the bill of the nearest table. Avoid this place.

Came in Berlin for the weekend and find this place. Very nice, copious and cheap dishes. We couldn't finish our plates... I recommend

I came here as it was a short walk from the hotel myself and my family were staying in. I like the area, as there are lots of nice outdoor bars and restaurants. We sat inside as it is on a busy road. The service was really friendly and the menu was extensive- it was really hard to choose what... More

Really enjoyed the mixed grill, the service was quick and friendly and a couple of complimentary ouzos rounded it off. Well recommended.

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
