Blumen looks like a flower shop from the outside and the theme extends to the interior as well - it's really lovely and quite magical inside. Staff were really nice and the food fresh and very tasty. The cakes were amazing - very difficult to choose just one. It's on a street with many interesting shops - great for a... More

This is a really quaint cafe with a beautiful interior. The menu is good and the service good too- very cute waiters! Unfortunately the coffee is average, but our meal was nice.

I am not a quiche fan, but it looked good. It was delicious! It was perfectly done and the crust was perfect too. It was accompanied by a salad that was great too. The salad had small leafed greens, fresh herbs and julienned pieces of vegetables such as zucchini. The restaurant has plants that separate the street from the tables.... More

My understanding is that this area is where the Gestapo and SS had their HQ. It felt strange sitting at the cafe and conjuring up images of that time. However, the location is pleasant, the staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable.

I have had breakfast in this fascinating flower/plant shop with restaurant attached. It is a truly unique place with all kinds of memorabilia tastefully arranged throughout the dining area. The breakfasts are ample and the cake selections are also equally delicious and quite unusual. A poppy seed and cheese cake with added mango bits was worthy of every bite. I... More

If they didn't have the flowers it'd be an average cafe. Coffee and cakes are nothing special, service is a little slow. But nice atmosphere, of course.

Lovely little cafe with great food. Waitstaff went out of their way to make sure we had a good meal and were very friendly and pleasant. Service is not too quick so maybe don't go here when you're in a rush but if you have time then it is well worth it. The cakes were the highlight for me -... More

The Blumencafe is half flower/plantshop, half a cafe. We went here for breakfast. The staff was watering flowers and plants outside, lovely smell anda fresh New morning atmosphere. We sat outside and had coffees and muesli, and eggs and fresh juices. The waiter went out of his way to make us happy. We were advised to go inside for a... More

We visited on a Sunday morning and were in no rush, but it take over an hour for our breakfast to arrive. Nice setting, friendly waiter and food was fine, but I wouldn't go back, even for the parrots.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
