We asked for tap water and was told it was not possible. Then the table next to us ordered it and it was brought to them. As other reviewers have remarked there is an unexpected service fee (we haven't come across this anywhere else in Berlin). The food was fine although not good enough to pay what you do.

I've been in this restaurant with a friend and we had a really good time!!! The palce is comfortable, warm and traditional! There was a lady singing in the other room for a "private dinner" and was very nice!! We had 2 schnitzel: absolutely amazing!!!

This is a wonderful restaurant that we have been to on several occasions over the years and it's a restaurant that gets better and better. This is a lovely traditional restaurant ,you descend down a small staircase that leads to a lovely multi roomed interior with photos adorning the wall's and various bric a brac around the restaurant and a... After a day on Museum Island, we stopped in to rest and have a beer. This is a comfortable, cozy bar and a pleasant place for a Grambrinus dark!

The food taste like school canteen food. They charged me EUR$2 per head for service fee which is rare in Berlin/Germany. Two glasses of sparkling water (150ml) cost me EUR2.5 each. A few tables were reserved for tour groups.

Nice, quiet spot for a lunch break. Traditional German and I needed a proper Jager schnitzel. With typical sides, the main was priced at an even Euro 15, plus Euro 1.90 for beverage, meal totaled Euro 16.90, service not included. A really happy meal. I was the only American there. Other diners were German as were the staff who were... More

We met family members here for dinner and had a lovely time. There were 6 of us, including 1 Vegetarian. All of us had great meals. The service was accommodating and pleasant. They served many different types of schnitzel dishes. Very interesting menu. Ambiance was very comfortable.

Nor the taste or the presentation of the food is nice. Rather expensive and overall very disappointed. There is a much better German restaurant 1 minute away. Try the orange cafe.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
