Since it's very close to Check point Charlie it was very convinient to eat here, and we also got good recommendation. The first waiter we met was so unkind and short of patience that we got up and went to anotger area of the restaurant. There we met much nicer ones. the food was tasty

If you miss suddenly the taste of Italian food, Find your way to Sale e Tabacchi. You will neither get there salt to buy nor tobacco, but probably you'll find Italian friendly stuff, good food and nice atmosphere. You may eat before or after visiting "Check- point Charley Museum". A good combination.

I was here with my business partner, my wife's cousin recommanded this restaurant, and we both enjoyed the antipasti, great pasta and the desert, and they have open all afternoon, so after lunch we could have a nice business meeting with great Italian espresso , I will come back

We sat outside n a perfect spring day. they offer 4 specials at lunch. We both had #4 - 2 pieces of fish (salmon and something called Sea Bream) potatoes and spinach and a salad. 21 Euros. It was quite good--not great. My only suggestion regards the salad. Lovely greens but the waiter brought vinegar and oil to the table... More

Visited the restaurant for a business dinner. Had the artichoke starter with mint and garlic which was understated but nevertheless a good choice, especially when the freshly baked aromatic stone-oven bread could be used to mop up the interesting juices of the dish. The signature tuna dish was very satisfying although the waiter gave me a disapproving look when I... More

Over our four days in Berlin we planned to try many different places. But this was an impulse lunch and where left very happy. Seemed a lack of enthusiasm on our arrival and the 5minuets before anyone came with menus. But once the ball was rolling and another waiter noticed we rolled into a two course meal and Red of... Nothing special, food was quite regular / blend as I had to salt all dishes and I usually never salt food at restaurants. Even tiramisu was somewhat disappointment & so was the wine. No English menu and I was told that the soup is beans soup when in fact it was chickpeas.

We'd been sent to this restaurant to meet a journalist but unfortunately she could only stay for 20 minutes and so lunch was off. I apologised to the waiter and offered to stay for some wine. The previously-friendly waiter did not hide his disappointment. He tried to sell us some quite expensive wine and when we chose a cheaper one,... More

Had a business dinner there and really anjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food. Service was quick and friendly, too. Just the minderal water served wasn't what you'd expect from a premium Italian Restaurant, no S.Pellegrino but some weird green bottle with even worse designed label i had never heard of. Taste was ok, just not premium level. Would... More

After the failure to get to the Tim Raue restaurant without reservation, we were strongly recommended to check the Italian restaurant nearby. We were cordially welcomed by the genuine Italian staff, consulted on the main menu and wine(both of which are large-a lot to choose from), and had a great dining. To cut a long story short, several facts: -... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
