Had breakfast there last week. The plate was huge and filling even if the price was small. Lovely service as well! Would definitely go again.

Utterly delicious. Just had a yummy meal in Athens tonight which reminded me we had not reviewed this cafe as it was also one our best meals ever. Sorry Cafe V, slow to type but your food is totally fab.

We ate as a family of five. The menu came quickly but the waiter seemed curiously reluctant to take our order, and when he did he missed my main course! The tomato soup was fabulous tasting and appropriately warming for the cold night. The red wine which came in carafes was light and slightly peppery. The pizzas (ordered by the... More

Been here for breakfast on a rainy day. Cafe V is a nice place to sit with a good atmosphere. The food is good, nothing special however. I feel like there are better and nicer spots around the same area.

It read about this place before visiting the city, so it was included ln my "must visit" list. I went there on a rainy day, feeling curious and excited, and was attended by a lovely waitress who smiled to me as soon as I entered the place-nice and friendly staff. I decided to order a green tea and their eggplant... More

Lovely intimate cafe/restaurant. I am not a full time vegetarian, but I thoroughly enjoyed my spinach and ricotta cannelloni in a vegetarian Ragu sauce. Beer was long and cold. Puddings are a little underwhelming, but still have this as a favourite spot from our trip.

Chose this place whilst searching for vegetarian places to eat. Was mine and my boyfriends last meal in Berlin and it was definitely the best! The place itself is very relaxing with a romantic atmosphere. I ordered stuffed mushrooms to start and my boyfriend ordered lentil soup, which were both delicious. For the main we ordered a mushroom and garlic... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
